Unity 5 native VR support for Google Cardboard

    Are there any plans for Unity 5 native VR support for Google Cardboard? I am asking this, because google cardboard has its qr-codes parameters for so many different sizes and glasses, and because it is actually the only real consumer-version VR device on the market today and Unity should be supporting it nativelly.

    Yeah, Cardboard is widespread, but people really need to compare to something like Samsung GearVR and you will see that Cardboard is really not up to par.

    It seemed amazing when I tried it, and when I got GearVR 2 months later, I realized what a sub-par experience Cardboard is. Unless they can address the less-than-stellar gyro/tracking and lag (this would require significant improvements in the phones themselves), I'm willing to bet it won't be such a huge player once all these other big boys come out any day now (Steam, Sony, and the official Oculus which is released Q1 2016)

    Granted, none of those are mobile, but if Oculus or somebody can come up with a more generic/device-independent version of GearVR -- which benefits from integrated gyro/accelerometer processing that bypasses the phone altogether -- then Cardboard will be obsolete at that point.

    Cardboard does have a significantly lower barrier to entry.

    In Fev (Here) was announced that we will get native support to Google Cardboard anytime, there's any release date for it? Maybe for unity 5.4?

    was wondering also - can not have one project targetting cardboard AND all other VR/non-VR platforms very easily as google cardboard plugin adds itself to everything!
