    Just upgraded my Android google cardboard project to 5.6 and my UI Scroll Rect mask stopped working. After a lot of messing around I noticed when you select 'Cardboard' as the Virtual Reality SDK under 'Player Settings - Other', there is a small drop down arrow that reveals the options "Depth Format" and "Enable transition view".

    My Depth format had defaulted to 16-bit depth. Changing it to 24-bit depth finally restored my UI mask functionality.

    Just sharing because I wasted most of a day before I spotted it :)
