    Hello,

I have downloaded the version 5.6.0b11 beta of unity and when i try to build a new project with an empty scene, i get the following error. If someone know the solution ^^

    - It can't be a Facebook problem because with or without Facebook platform, i get the same error.
    - I have already try "run as administrator"
    - I have already try to change .net 2.0 subset to .net 2.0, same result.
    - I'm on windows 7 64 bit.

    and

    Thank you

The same issue. Target platform is Android with Gradle build and IL2CPP.
    Unity 2017.1. Windows 10.
API Compatibility: .NET 2.0 (not subset!)
    Any ideas?

Can you provide details about the specific error message? This is a pretty general one. There might be more information that will help us better understand the issue.

Sure. The reason why im using IL2CPP is because mono backend seems to not be working for ppl running russian windows 10. I have a couple of people that run into this error.

This problem only appears for ~5% of my users. And it seems like mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll only uses latin and no cyrill causing the problem. I told ppl having this issue installing all .NET runtimes but it did not work. So i tried compiling with IL2CPP
and run into the other problem that was described here.

As the error message from il2cpp.exe indicates, you need to have Visual Studio installed in order to build a player with IL2CPP. I would recommend you install it, then try again.

Can you check in the directories and registry keys mentioned in the error message? Those indicate the locations where IL2CPP is looking for Visual Studio. If it is not installed in one of those locations, it will not be found.

    Thanks for your response.

This is what the reg looks like. Also why would VS not be installed in those locations if using the Unity installer? This is pretty confusing. How do I solve this?

    Cheers-

Do you actually have a Windows SDK installed and the corresponding C++ tools? Visual Studio isn't enough. Your screenshot only shows the VC runtime which isn't the same as the SDK.

Visual Studio 14.0 implies Visual Studio 2015 but since it's just the runtime it's still worth asking, which version of Visual Studio are you using? 2017 onwards makes it pretty easy to see what's installed.

Your Visual Studio (2017 or 2019) setup should look like this:
    upload_2019-2-5_16-57-8.png

If you're using Visual Studio 2015 then it'd look more like this:

That did the trick. Thank you. I had an old SDK installed(Or there was an error while installing). It is still strange that this was not installed with unity.

When Visual Studio is installed with Unity, only the IDE and the C# toolchain is installed. The C++ toolchain and SDKs need to be installed separately.

but but but... What do you recommend one does if one is using Visual Code? Still install Visual Studio? And where is the "C++ toolchain" ? I just want to build an EXE for Windows in 2018.2 but I get errors like the above users did. I had no problem making a build in in 2017.4.17f1 despite NOT having monodevelop, Visual Studio, nor even il2cpp backend scripting, or any other windows related package added. I assume Windows EXE builds were "built in"? So what happened in 2018? It got externalized?

Sorry, I'm just seeing this message now.

I'm not sure why 2017.4 worked, however, IL2CPP builds have always requited the Visual Studio toolchain to be installed separately on your machine. You can still use Visual Studio Code as an editor, but the C++ compiler, linker, and SDK headers and libraries need to be installed. The best way to install them is to install Visual Studio.

It looks like this occurs because a file cannot be deleted from your local temporary directory. Maybe this directory is not writable or there is a problem with the disk. In any case though, the Unity Editor must have write access to your temporary directory.
