    Hi!

I'm upgrade today the new 5.3.5, from 5.3.4 version of Unity and my Oculus is not working now! I use 0.8 runtime (if it possible, I dont want to use 1.3) and I have the "Initialization of Device Oculus Failed". error message every time. I use Titan X with the newst GeForce driver and DK2.

Thank you very much for your help!

It's either 1.3 or 1.4 only. You have to roll back to an earlier Unity version or update to 1.3.

Wait, I'm sorry, I think I might have given you incorrect information.

I am on 5.3.5p2, not 5.3.4. You'll have to look for yourself to make sure, but my guess is that 5.3.4 probably uses 1.3. If the Oculus just stops working when you upgrade Unity, the most likely cause would be an incorrect Oculus runtime.

    Hi!

Thanks for your answres! I'm upgrade to the newewst Oculus runtime: the eror measage is gone, the Oculus was connected (the indicator LED is blue when press play) but the screen is black... Virtual reality is supported.
    What could be the problem?

    Thanks!

First thing is make sure the Oculus Home software is running. This seems to replace the old ovr_server stuff.

If that doesn't work: I'm not sure about your version, but the 5.3.5p2 version I'm running doesn't like it when you turn off the Rift while Unity is running. When I do that the display turns black and won't normally turn back on. Restarting Unity once or twice fixes it for me. I just make sure I leave the Rift on all the time when working in Unity if I'm ever going to use it. It's a bit of an inconvenience, but it's not so bad to work with that I'd revert for that reason alone.

Maybe start with a system restart, turn on the Rift, start the Oculus Home software, then open Unity (in that order). And once Unity is open don't turn off the Rift. I'm not sure if your Unity version will do the same thing mine does, but it's worth a try maybe.
