I recently upgraded my project from 5.2.x to 5.3.1. In the game I instantiate my character model from resource folder, place it under a parent object zero its transformations...etc. I also do the same thing for character selection screen.

In the editor everything is working fine. But when I deploy it to the device, character selection screen models show up upside down. Player controlled object however works just fine. I also tried placing a couple of prefabs myself. I dublicated those prefabs stripping their components one by one. Problem goes away when I remove animator component. Similar problem also exist for one of my enemy objects. Though that one is 90 degree offset from the way its supposed to be. It is like those objects somehow rotated via their root object.

There is a rotation bug apparently but I think my problem is not the same since I am not rotating my character with animations.

Its really frustrating to pinpoint some error when the exact same object behaves differently....
Anyway is that a bug? or is there something changed with the animator component I dont know.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Did you solve it?
I also upgraded to 5.3.1 and my characters started flipping upside down at certain orientations (On Android, not in the editor). Also I have exposed the root joint and have some other meshes parented to it. They got scaled when the character rotated if I had any keyframe values for scale (even if all keys were at 1). So I had to remove all scale keyframes.

I am sorry you have that problem but on the other hand I am glad I'm not the only one :).
I'm afraid I couldnt solve it. I tried to create a small project using the same assets to send with the bug report but I couldnt replicate it. I ended up reverting back to 5.2. Gonna wait for a patch release.

I also had the same issue. I think it's something with the cache files, because I also tried to replicate it but couldn't and then it disappeared.
Can you try clearing the library folder in the project path and reimport everything? Maybe that's the issue.
    Backup first.

Deleting library folder didnt work for me. The problem still exists with the new patch as well. Have you guys found a solution?
