    Hello,

I have the DK2, Oculus Config Utility 6.0.0, and Unity 5.1.1p3. I have a GeForce GTX 780 Ti Graphics card and I am running Windows 7 64-bit.

I run the Oculus Config Utility in Extended Mode. I can see the Demo Scene perfectly. Then I open Unity -> New Project -> Edit -> Project Settings -> Player --> VR Enabled.

When I press the play button (as the Getting Started guide suggests), I initially got a fully head tracked sky box. My main monitor went black (empty). But I wasn't able to exit out with ESC . So I had to Ctrl+Alt+Delete.

Now whenever I load up Unity 5 anymore and try to press play with VR Enabled, I immediately get taken to a crash window and Unity 5 closes. I don't get the SkyBox view at all.

I have tried Oculus Config in Direct Mode and it does the same thing. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Unity and the same exact thing happened.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss on what to do next.

    Best,
    Matt

Matt, I've heard that if you have old Oculus plug-ins still in your project it will crash.

Try reinstalling the Oculus Runtime. And make sure to restart your machine after installing the runtime.

Unfortunately, I have tried both of these things. I open a new project with Unity and it still crashes (no oculus plug-ins) and I have reinstalled Oculus Run-time several times.

Any fix for this??? I sent error reports. I just took a week off from work to create an experience with unity 5 for the rift, but can't because of this crash.

I uninstalled the new patch and installed patch 3 and all is well. However i have a new problem. My head is not syncing up with my body with the character controller in the assets. I have no idea what script to attach to get it working with VR.

If you are using the Oculus Utilities package you can drop the OVRPlayerController into the scene. The script here that moves the body is the OVR Player controller script and because the Camera Rig is a child of the body, headTracking will follow any transform changes to the OVRPlayerController object. You can't directly change the OVRCameraRig child object's transform.

If you are using the FirstPersonController script provided by Unity's Standard Packages, you will need to place that script on the parent object of the camera. So make a new object and then drag and drop the main camera as a child of the empty one. Then attach the FPS script mentioned above and head tracking should follow the body as you move around using your keyboard or controller.

Try turning off "Multithreaded rendering" and GPU skinning in Player settings.

I am having this issue of Unity crashing when I try to play a scene from the Oculus Utilites for Unity 5 when I check VR support. I'm using Unity 5.3.1f1. Nvidia Geforce 980 Ti driver 361.43. I just want to start making experiences in Unity that I can throw my headset on and go check them out!

I'm having the same problems as zachypin with the same version of Unity on a Mac 10.9.5 - Thanks.
