Unity 5.0 Beta 15 Now Available

Unity 5.0 beta 15 is now available for download: http://unity3d.com/unity/beta/5.0

Please report bugs as usual: http://unity3d.com/BugReportingFAQ

Note: Entering licensing on windows will crash the Editor.
    Workaround:

    1. Delete C:\ProgramData\Unity\Unity_v5.x.ulf (if it exists)
    2. Run "Unity.exe -serial (serial)" from command-line. This will activate Unity and write license file, so only have to do this once.

(For those needing alternate download choices vs. the download assistant which is a work in progress):
Here are the links to individual component installers for Unity 5.0.0b15. And to make clear, the plan has always been to provide links to the separate installers, as e.g. automated silent deployment of Unity will have to use the installers themselves, and not the download assistant.

    Windows:

    32-bit Editor
    64-bit Editor
    Web Player
    Sample Assets
    Example Project

    OS X:

    Editor (64-bit only)
    Web Player
    Sample Assets
    Example Project

I've been a Unity Pro user and as a University Professor in game design I was issued a 5 Beta
But it evidently expired today...? Huh?
    Are beta's time sensitive?.
Sorry to ask this in the forum but all the other avenues aren't responding..
    Thanks

From the directory with Unity.exe (or if its in your path):

    Unity.exe -serial ######

The Unity 4.x to 5.x beta key conversions are now expired. A pre-order key or a subscription key are now the only available options at this time.

Let's please not read into changelog differentials. We get work done when we do. It's as simple as that.

Thank you for the help Alex. I'm still have the issue in the command prompt i know it's user error (myself) i'm just excited to use unity 5. Here are the step that i'm using if there anything that i'm doing wrong please advise on the correct process.

    1. Accessing the command prompt
    2. I type in Run "unity.exe - my serial with dash
The command prompt states that it can't find the executable to opened unity 5. I believe i followed the steps correctly that are presented in the first thread but i could be wrong. I download both the 32 bit and 64 bit unity 5 files and my OS is Windows 8.1 64 bit is there a missing step i'm forgetting?

    Thanks again

Teetee0919 you want to use the "cmd.exe" from run. Once that is open navigate to the Unity install directory (eg. "cd C:\Program Files\Unity 5.0.0b15\", then enter the command "unity -serial 1313-sdasd-eqwe-213z" replace the 1313 gibberish with your cd key.

    Hope that helps ;)

Thanks for the advice lightassassin but still a no go. I've been trying for weeks and i'm starting to believe there is no hope for using Unity 5. I'm believe i may have to delete my 4.6 that i have and try to process again i am grateful for the help but every time i tried something there is no solution. When you told me to navigate through to the Unity install directory were you saying that i need to go directory to the folder and select it and the type in the command within the prompt?

There is always a solution, you just need to spend 5 minutes looking up your problem, not posting on the forums and waiting for the problem to go away. It has nothing to do with Unity, it has to do with you not knowing how to use the command prompt. Google is your friend. If you don't learn to use Google, you will fail as a developer.
    1. As stated a few posts earlier, the actual command is Unity.exe -serial ######, where ###### is your key and the word "-serial" needs to be there.
    2. You need to specify full path to Unity.exe if you are running from the root. You might need to use quotation marks if your path has spaces.
Example: c:\Unity5\Unity.exe -serial ######, where you substitute c:\Unity5\ with your path to Unity.exe, and ###### with your serial number.

I can't activate beta 15 on Windows 8.1 - it still crashes even when using the command prompt workaround. Specifically:

I open a command prompt and then:

    cd "\Program Files\Unity 5.0.0b15\Editor"
    Unity.exe -serial XX-XXXX-XXX

This causes the license dialog to appear, then go away, followed by the prompt to login with my Unity username and password. So it no longer crashes at step 1, which is good. But then it *does* still crash after I enter my username and password then click OK.

So, I'm still unable to launch beta 15 on Windows.

Do I need to somehow make it not ask me for the login to workaround this crash?

To work around my issue above, I went back and installed beta 14, licensed and registered, then upgraded to beta 15. This might be an easier path for others with similar problems.
