It's not even being released until the end of the year. You had your announcement. Your grace period is right now. Even the grace period had a grace period of 30 days.

You're just mad because you purchased before the grace period of the grace period. Where does it end? Should they have a grace period before the grace period of the grace period?

    Hi,
I have pre - purchased Unity 4.0 Pro, as well as Unity IOS Basic 4.0.
I received an email that states
I am currently considering taking advantage of the reimbursement and the (not for long) lower prices so I can buy an IOS Pro license. It would help me a lot in this decision, to know
-the amount of money that will be returned to me
-when can I expect those money
-the amount of money the IOS Pro costs in my case.

I will forward this mail to the sales as well, I am posting it here because I think more people can benefit from these answers.
    Kind regards,
    -Ippokratis.

So you noticed the bizarre number of Linux votes too? I once lost a Logo Header competition I did on a lark of all things and $1000 because the 1st place entry had 100,000 of thousands of votes in a matter of a couple of hours and I had a few thousand in a matter of weeks. I told them you may as well end this hoax as anyone can see it was rigged.

I am also wondering for Unity 4, if it will have a shader graph... I've been using Stramit's editor for so long now that it has become an extension of my workflow (I am not a programmer)... so I am wondering if this will make it into Unity 4...

I wouldn't worry too much about rigged voting of the feedback.unity3d.com site – we listen to it, but it's not like we follow it slavishly.

When we finally decided to support Linux it was because we looked at it holistically and decided it was the right thing to do – not a mechanical reaction to a lot of votes. A single vote with an excellent argument attached has weight to us than a dozen people who're merely supporting a cause.

I think Linux is a GREAT move, considering how much it has been asked about in the past... and speaking of computing, will we eventually get a 64 bit version of Unity? I am using a 64bit system with 16GB of RAM as my development platform, and right now 12GB of that ram is going unused... will we definitely see more of this in the future?

And things like that from the boss-man mean a hell of a lot to us. I like seeing confirmation that you actually care :)

I know this is a little off topic, but I saw that the Unity guys were monitoring this thread...

I never received my $200 voucher for pre-ordering Unity 4.0.

    I emailed sales 2x
    I emailed support 1x
    I started a support thread.

I still haven't received an iota of help on this issue... I would call support except A) I don't own a phone, and B) I really hate phones. ;)

The whole "$200 voucher" thing was already a disappointment compared to the "Pre-order today to get $200 off!" that @Unity3d tweeted... Right now, I just wish I could get my stinkin' voucher. :/

My guess is that Q1 2013 is a more realistic release date to be expected.
Perhaps the Unity 4.0 Beta appears after the conference, perhaps not.

Yeah, I've kind of decided to go back to working on my game next week. v4.0 is too many months away. I'd like to use those assets I bought at least once before Unity 4.0. For us parttimers, it is hard to get something completed when all these assets and Unity improvements make you want to go back to square one; but then you can argue it makes it so much faster and the results so much better to go back to square one anyway so...

Make your life easier and just finish the job with the toolset you started it with. Duke Nukem Froever is a good example of what happens if you go back to square one every time an improvement shows up on the horizon. ;)

Its great Unity have its own "state of the art" animation system, but I rather have a new GUI system.

I have been re-using animations for years with motionbuilder, so I dont really see a point here. And rigging, well we have Maximo and auto weight scripts in blender and 3ds max.

Pretty much what I'm doing except I've upgraded the visible assets in the game.

Well Mechanim will allow for easier scripting of animations for one thing. Much easier than can be done now. I put a project on hold for this. Not a major one but them nothing I do is major.

@Lapsaap The new animation system is much more than just retargetting animation. It has a state machine and blend trees and ... for doing Character animation easily. You don't have to code most of the things and expose values in inspector for the artist too tweek. If you do some Animation heavy stuff then you would realize the importance of it. Later on when they implement more advanced IK then it would become much more useful too.

This thread is very long so would take too much time searching for what I want to know. :)

Is there anything worth upgrading to version 4 if I use Unity exclusively for iOS development?

    Thanks in advance.

Am I the only one to be disappointed by the lack of new audio features? A complete overhaul would be even better, but here it seems we'll get next to nothing. Especialy on iOS, coding precise music apps that need sample level accuracy is a pain in the...

I guess many pro users are not aware of it either... BTW, Is it a closed group testing ?

Personally kind of disappointed... had the full suite of 4.xPro early bird license, and didn't receive a single email....
UT don't need a fancy multimillion CRM to generate the distribution list of 4.xPro users, a simple excel csv +email will make many loyal customers happy...

Hi, i dont know if this has been answered yet, but I want to know if the states from the animation blend trees can be easily sent over a network to sync different objects. if it does, it will be great!

Yep the beta group is closed/invitation only. However, not sure how they are handling the beta distribution to pre-order customers, I was actually planning on pulling the trigger on my license upgrade tomorrow. Email support@unity3d.com, or your account executive (one was emailing me about unity4) I think think you fell between the cracks somehow!

Way back, when this was first discussed, it was mentioned that it would be done in order of orders received.
I ordered as soon as I saw it was available and have heard nothing but what has been mentioned here,
so my guess is it hasn't gotten far into the first orders, but just speculation.

Unity 4.0 is still in private beta. No pre-order customers have received a preview release yet. The preview release will start after the private beta users have had a little more time with it.

Yes, do agree to certain extend. Existing animation pipelines are sufficient. But do see value in the Mecanim, with the Statemachine and animation blending to orchestrate AAA animations. If the UT mocap library proof to be top quality, that will spell the end of maximo business case....

What it has not address is the pain point of developers on multi platform, i meant the specific settings saving for multiple sub-android marketplace. Hell break lose for me, just to manage the manifest.xml for a update....

You guys added native Socket support to Unity Free? I'm pretty sure that ways previously reserved for Pro, so thank you UT!
