    Hi,

Thanks for the tutorials. In the tilemap tutorial, how can you draw tiles that take the corners of sprites into consideration?

I'm specifically looking to see how this can be done:

    Thanks.

Yeah, I had issues with the grid being slightly off too.

I don't quite understand the question/issue. Maybe someone could start a thread and we can discuss?

Based on this thread title, does this mean the new 2D features will be in the 5.5 beta?

Sorry for the confusion. Will rename thread. But as mentioned in the 2D Experimental Preview Release 1 thread:

Please note that this is NOT an Alpha build. The version displayed is 5..5.0a1. This is because it is based on the latest code trunk in our repository and that is currently named 5.5a1.

So the new features will not be in the 5.5beta.

I see how to define a tilemap logic. Any example of what we'd use to offer in-game level editing using tilemap?

It's basically the same thing, just using non-mouse input to drive the TileMap transformations.

So now that 5.5 is released, I installed this 5.5 version. Which replaced my official 5.5. So am I stuck at this version to use these features or will they be included as I upgrade to latest 5.5 as they are released?

That's unfortunate. You need to install to a separate path/folder than the release version.
    Installing Multiple Versions of Unity

The features in the Experimental Preview are only available in this build - current experimental build is installed as Unity 5.5.0x3-2D. They are not included in the Release 5.5. Most of the features here will be available in later versions, 5.6, 5.7.

5.6 Beta is available and according to Roadmap this awesome new features are not included.
Does it mean that they won't appear in 5.6 Release?

To echo what dotsquid said above, I too would like to know if we will see at least some of these features in 5.6?

I'm especially waiting on the new Axis Sorting feature, as that would help us tremendously.

Will the api have a way to procedurally allow us to place tiles without having to create the map manually?

Any chance of a 2D build based off 5.6? we're kind of locked into 5.6... :D

    @hippocoder We are considering it.
Additionally, we are in the process of getting some of the experimental features to release in 5.6.

I don't get a thing. How can I easily increase the z-axis of my tiles so as to give "height" for example to my buildings, using the isometric tile map?

I was in desperate need for a tutorial for the great demo game that came along with Vers. 4.
So I did one myself this weekend ;)
    Hope you like it.

Wouldn't it be nice to know a bit more about scripted Tiles and
    custom Brushes?
If so, please check out my second tutorial for the Unity 2D Preview Release ;-)

30.6.: Just wanted to add, that what I publish as "tutorials" is just what works for me and not necessarily "best practice".
So feedback and criticism of the community and the whole Unity team is always welcome.

I just finished another one for Unity's 2D Tile Map Tool.
This time it's all about creating destructable terrain.
Hope this gives you some inspiration.

the videos look great, but none seem to do the "blank unity scene - here is how you add a tilemap, here is how you do a sprite, here is how you do a nine slice...and here is how you use them.
