So since upgrading my project, my performance got tanked.
After some digging i found out that the editor is the problem, more specifically the scene and game view.
If i have just game view open (and scene view by example just as a tab, but not visible) then fps is completely fine, getting 120 fps.
When i have scene and game view open, it gets tanked to 50 fps, and after like 10 seconds it drops to 10 fps.
Looking at the profiler, the editor loop takes up 80-90% at this point of the performance.
However if i detach the game view from the editor, and have it like on the second screen open, and scene view also open but still in the editor, the fps does drop to 50 fps, but it stays there (so i doesnt drop to 10 fps after a while)

    Using unity 2022.3.1f1 with URP

Is there anyway to fix this?

Make a bug report and attatch both 2021 and 2022 projects if possible.

You can also set the profiler to editor to check what it might be doing

2022.2.21 performance is good. But 2022.3 performance is so slow in build and editor.

Expriencing the same here. extended reality are even way worse. They supposedly increased performance for VR but connecting the Hololense 2 through holographic remoting is slow af

They don't do that at Unity. I heard someone clicked to open the editor by mistake one day and they had to evacuate and demolish the building they were in.

I believe they are using the Plato's Cave method for understanding the software they are making.

In order to understand what their editor does, they only look at the shadows on the cave's wall, also known as "bug reports". If a bug report does not exist they have no chance of understanding what's happening, and even then, they can only understand so much from just shadows.

But seriously, each yearly version of Unity getting slower is the norm and expected.

If it's A LOT slower, then submit a bug report and wait 12 months for either nothing or not enough to happen.

We can't confirm this problem on our side, we have not found any performance issue at all with 2022.3.1f1 -> try to update to the latest of these (pre LTS) or use LTS
however, if you port a project you need to be sure that all your setting are controlled.
It has a huge impact when you convert a projects with millions of files in it, meaning the library and packets.

Specially in URP & HDRP be sure to go over all your settings, pipeline, renderers, also backend and c sharp, directx alll these thing matter. Check all renderers, Check all post processors. And so on.

you can also use the editor windows options (icon on top of the editor view) to turn of progressively things like postprocessing and even lightning.
It can help to test it there.
also check if the progress bar ist doing background processes, it could mean it has to process thing.

    good luck!

Can you describe because it means nothing to just say it's worse.
    - what is worst
    - when is it worst

there is very often also a reason, and mostly it on the user's hardware or software side.
And there is also often a solution.

For me it's the inspector that is around 10-30x slower. When selecting object that contains lists of classes and when those custom classes also contain list of other custom classes then the fps drops to less than 1fps, the editor glitches out and takes very long time to scroll or react to input. Previously it was working perfectly fine in 2022.2.15. I have noticed the same issues on beta builds and because of that I decided not to upgrade despite needing the new features such as decal layers but it seems the newest LTS has the same problems.

this sounds serious indeed, but is it a ported project or is it been created on that version of unity?

i think sending a bug report would be very good if this is a permanent behavior.

-> aso check if it is related to your IDE, we had problems with older IDE on RIder & Visual Studio & visual studio code. some extensions was the cause in these specific cases

    Hello there!

Yes, as above mentioned by others if you encounter performance issues, especially after upgrading, please report them via the Bug Reporter Tool as those are very likely regressions and should be looked at.

    https://unity.com/releases/editor/qa/bug-reporting

Make sure to mention this forum post, your setup and what version you are using of the Editor, the project itself (It might be project specific) plus the added visual material that shows how much it dropped/spiked in the Profiler, or at least how can CQA and the Devs verify they reproduced your issue.

Regarding the Won't Fix resolutions or Couldn't Reproduce. This happens usually due to us not having setups (If the issue is very specific to a setup, usually the case with older computers, older CPUs and etc...) and not being able to verify if the fix worked or not, so code changes would be essentially a guessing game.

    For me it is
    - the speed of selecting objects in the large scene inside a large nest. The editor can hang a second or two before it wakes up.
    - The entering and exiting play modes are about 10 seconds slower than before.
    - Lots of Invalid AABB inAABB errors which i never had before
    - Domain reloads are much slower

    My hardware
    CPU - AMD 3950X
    GPU - RTX 3090
    SDD - Samsung 950 pro
    Windows 11
