Bug Unity 2022 LTS - problem with performance on better graphics card (problem was new input system))

    Hello,
    We have a project that was on Unity 2020 some time ago. At that time FPS was around 80 on RTX 3060 and around 40 on GTX 1660S

    We decided switch to the 2022 lts version. Now on RTX 3060 we have some weird fps drop to 5 or 20fps. Drop is terribly random, sometimes we have this even on menu (undemanding scene without interaction).
    When there are no drops it's around 50 fps. We test this on RTX 2060 and same result.

    The funniest part is that on GTX 1660S we don't have any drop and FPS is around 70 on 2022 lts.

    So if anyone have any suggestion why on worse cards we have much better perfomance and no drop?

    If it's a small project I suggest to make a bug report and attach both versions of the project.
    Otherwise check the profiler to see what is causing the performance issues.
    Especially URP has had some changes in 2022.3 compared to 2021, so go over the settings

    Do a bug report then post the bug # here when QA eventually replies with a combination of Won't Fix, Can't Reproduce, By Design

    Nah, it's never too late to change them back. I had one that got through, QA confirmed, got on issuetracker, was active. Then months later it was closed because they couldn't repro.

    (turns out, after a lot of back and forth, that when they re-wrote the bug report for the issue tracker they wrote some of the steps wrong)

    So unless it is actually fixed on a build you have currently downloaded on your PC, the potential for a won't fix, by design, can't reproduce is always there and all sense of progress is just an illusion to give you the impression that things might improve one day.

    <Solved (partly because on OpenXR don't work)>
    So in Unity 2022.3.4f1 with steamVR we have this drops and bad performance, after that we experimented and convert to OpenXR.
    In Unity 2022.3.7f1 we go back to steamVR and we don't have any drops and perfomance issues.
    Problem was the new input system which is needed to OpenXR.
    Perhaps problem it was not related to graphics cards. New input system was causing an error on: HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift. On Quest 2 there where no drops.

    No error, performance drop.
    We test on 2022.3.7f1 and on this version with OpenXR, new input system causes perfomance drop probably on HTC vive, oculus rift
