Resolved Unity 2021.2.0 Beta 13 broke everything Apple M1

    I finally see we went above the 60fps threshold, but the editor itself is now lagging behind 1-2 seconds !
    Everything is choppy, not even usable.


    Anyone else experiencing this ? I'm using URP.

    It happens for me even when not in playmode.

    Is this issue M1 Mac specific? A friend with an i7 Mac had similar stutters, worse than usual.

    I did get 60-70 FPS while having massive input lag and frame dropping (something like 9/10 frames being dropped, felt like).
    Friend had around 7 FPS though, so I think it may have been the memory leak in the other thread?

    Been a few weekends now wasted away, mostly fighting Unity issues on one of our ends :| This beta feels much more stable than the previous ones though, this big issue aside.

    Can confirm this issue is happening on an M1 Air, and just to be specific I am not using an external monitor.

    Yeah sorry about that :(. It landed a day after beta14 was cut, and it only made it to beta15.

    Grrr ... Could you possibly put a 'hotfix' in the meantime ? Closer to RC betas are taking more time right ? Thank you anyway for fixing; if fixed ;)

    Unfortunately we don't have any mechanism to do this.

    No, they should still be published weekly. I think b15 will come out this week.

    I have Editor Flickering on Mac Air m1 (2021.2.0b14). is it the same bug?

    B12 is stable-ish; 13 and 14 are broken (for me).

    It's better in B15 now, but still has the lag issue. FPS is showing 60, but on screen it feels like 30-40 fps. In B11, it's buttery smooth and matches the 60 fps. I'm on an i7 iMac.

    Yeah, getting some random stutter here as well that wasn't there before. Might be shaders recompiling after the Unity update though, I did see some cyan flashes here and there.

    Would you be able to submit a bug report with a reproduction project for this issue so we can have a look at your case?

    We have received a bug report with a similar issue description and will have a look.

    Submitted as 1372413. It's literally just the HDRP template scene. If no one else noticed this, maybe it's specific to Intel Macs or the graphics card (Radeon Pro 5700XT). Also I made sure all the shaders have finished recompilng and no blue flashes.

    I noticed that it tends to display a frame from half a second ago, for around a frame when this happens. So kind of like a frame drop but it's displaying an older frame. Also sometimes happens to Editor UI elements like text fields etc.

    I just tried Unity 2021.2.f1 on Mac and the input lag is just terrible. When I type text in the fields of inspector, some characters are not showing, some are displayed with a few seconds lag. Some will appear only when I hit enter.

    Example of a faulty behavior: I want to type number 85 as a width value. I type '8' and nothing happens. I type the '5' and the first digit appears after two seconds! I type '5' and nothing happens... the last digit is displayed only when I hit enter. But not always! Often enter is not registered at all... And to make it worse, it seems like whatever I type, the scene is not updating properly. Some values, like pixels per unit for an Image are not updating at all... It is just horrible!

    It is not just a simple lag, it feels like the characters are stuck in some pipe and the typing pushes them further. Everything is butter smooth on Unity 2021.1.16f1

    My project is medium size, and I work on quite strong computer - iMac 5K 4.2GHz i7. My graphic card is Radeon Pro 580 8 GB. Should I open a ticket for this?

    I just checked and this is not project-related bug. It happens with a fresh, new project also.

    It would be great if these issues weren't marked as fixed before they are officially available. This is just confusing.
