The release notes show the differences since 2020.2.7f1.
The 2020.3 branch is only going to introduce fixes and platform support to the 2020.2 branch for the next 2 years.

Does that mean that 2021.1.0f1 is around the corner?

I have a project on 2019 LTS using the legacy VR system due to the new OpenXR plugin not supporting haptics yet. Is it possible that 2020 LTS will support OpenXR with haptics in the near future?

If not, I'll probably be stuck on 2019 LTS since the 2020 cycle removed the legacy VR system without a proper SteamVR/OpenXR replacement (with haptics).

(Actually, I'm not too sure if legacy VR supports haptics, no device to test with currently [will be able to very soon], but it seems like it does?)

If I upgrade from 2020.2.7 will it require a full reimport?

Upgrading, even to minor patch versions, always requires a full reimport.

Between minor version there isn't a full reimport.

Hi there. System requirements for 2020.3 list 10.12 as minimum for Mac OS.

    System requirements
    OS: Windows 7 SP1+, 8, 10, 64-bit versions only; Mac OS X 10.12+; Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, and CentOS 7.

where as the docs list 10.13 as minimum for Editor and Player. Also docs are still referring to 2020.2....

Also Unity Hub should filter based on OS Version, still allows download 2020.3 on 10.12 and then won't launch.

Since I have not been keeping up. Why not push out a blog detailing what was added since 2019 LTS?
I assume this is now stable to move production projects over.
Just wondering what the actual benefits would be.

It should be put in the known issues list. Without haptics working with XR plugin it could be a no go for many VR devs.

Yeah... I'm a bit miffed that they removed the old VR system in 2020.1 without a proper OpenVR or OpenXR replacement, I thought they would have finished it by 2020 LTS, which is why I'm still on 2019.

Personally, I had to upgrade to the new XR plugin framework because Quest doesn't work with the new Input System on the old VR system, but I'm quite worried about my Vive support now. Hoping it'll at least be done by 2022.

    @IgnisIncendio
You should be able to use XR inputs even without XR plugin (Device.TryGetFeatureValue).
I know it's confusing but it's what I do for Oculus and it work.
I tried to update to XR plugin before but I get back because of performance regression. Hopefully it's fixed in 2020 LTS.

Now that I think about it, when I updated to XR plugin the legacy OpenVR inputs was still working. So maybe you could try that.

If I had to guess, someone probably hardcoded in the hub that LTS releases are .4.

Let's hope it also adds support for the new platforms integrated into 2020.2/.3 (PS5, GameCore Xbox One, GameCore Xbox Series)...

Upgrading our project to 2020.3 unlinked many of our prefabs, seems like a regression seen in 2020.2.4. Downgrading to 2020.2.7 seems to work.

Will UnityCsReference on github get a 2020.3 update? The newest commit in that repo is 10 months old.

I am encountering a repeatable hard crash (BSOD) on macOS Mojave 10.14.6 with Intel Iris Pro graphics in 2020.3.1f1

It crashes the entire operating system straight to black screen every time I attempt to drag the Project tab anywhere.

Where should I send the crash report?

As far as I can tell, https://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/2020.3.1 says "iOS player requires iOS 11.0 or higher." and https://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/2020.1.0 says "iOS: Made iOS 11 minimum support iOS version" so they are aligned.

    Could you please check again?

Hello, I've tried out this version and 2021.1 and neither of them seem to have FindKernel working when Server Build is checked (just says can't find the kernel despite the shader compiling properly and working properly in the editor). Anyone have any fix for this?

In the blog post it says: "A new configuration setting means that you can get into and out of Play Mode more quickly"

Which configuration setting is that? The same "Enter Play Mode Settings" from 2019LTS or is there something new?

I assumed it meant that the "Enter Play Mode Configuration" is out of experimental.

I've already upgraded a project and made changes to it. How should I proceed now? Continue with 2020.3.15 or try to downgrade to 2020.3.14?

    @GM_O

I had to so I could commit changes so other members of my team could continue and I was able to downgrade to .14 with no issues. You get a warning statig you may need to rebuild your library or you might loose data, but neither of those happened to me.

I wish someone from Unity would give an explanation of what happened. I don't mind that it did but some explanation would be appreciated.
