Is it somewhere in mid of Summer or at late Autumn ? : )
Thanks! = )
I'd say around May/June.
It's not in beta yet, so I don't see any chance of it being released in May. I don't even think it will be released in June, maybe even July.
3 releases a year and 2019.1 came out mid April so roughly 4 month after that. Probably mid August.
Thanks, sounds pretty good : )
Nobody has any idea.
This. Unity themselves don't even know which month the release will come out.
This is true. When you look at previous release dates for 2017 & 18 they dont stick to a 4 month cycle.
I guess it just depends on when they feel its ready.
sure, thanks for roughly estimations, I still believe, if beta version will appear at the end of this month - most probably, release version will come on summer. But when you promise something - the devil postpones all his affairs and begins to do everything so that you did not succeed = )
Unity Technologies release plans have been shared here:
If you want specific dates, I recommend to check when 2018.2 was released. I think around this time they plan to release 20xx.2 too, plus/minus a few weeks.
Unity has not really been following that, though. For example, in the following image it indicates that 2018.4 (LTS) will ship at the same time as 2019.1.
so there is 2019.2. beta 2 already, what are estimations now? : )
Nobody has any idea.
Pure speculation: I'd say late August.
I'm somewhat sure that in the next six months they will release 2019.2.
They have released Unity 2018.2.0 the 10 July 2018, so logically it will be around this date.
Stay on 2018 cycle if you can, a sprite bug reported before the official 2019 release will be fixed on Unity 2019.3 that will be released in December 2019 ^^ Best joke of the year
We already have 2019.3 alpha so it seems things are going fast
As soon as the problems with Visual Studio have been fixed: https://forum.unity.com/threads/visual-studio-2017-no-longer-opens-in-a13.668059/
I dont think they will push back a unity release because of a bug with 3rd party software, and reading through that thread it does not seem to be an issue on unitys side but on microsofts although I will admit I have not encountered the bug myself so do not speak from a postion of absolute certainty
You didn't read everything. The problem is not on Microsoft side; it's an integration problem. @miniwolf_unity is working on it. See his post #23.
Aiming for around the middle of the year; but that depends on if it is in a stable state to ship!
2019.1 had around 11 betas.
It will always vary, people should focus on the released versions only if they have a deadline shorter than a year
I wouldn't use a number of betas as an accurate prediction. I remember Unity 4.6 having atleast 20 betas!
there is 2019.3.a3 do you know, what is this "big sprite bug" about? is it fixed already in this alpha?
So I found this "1071494" https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/is...ite-atlas-resulting-in-increased-memory-usage
seems fixed in 2019.1,
does that mean its fixed in 2019.2 as well ?
Have you tried asking in the section dedicated to asking questions about the alpha?
thanks, I asked on Unity 2019.2 forum branch and they confirmed that this bug was fixed in 2019.1 and that means in all next builds including 2019.2. So 2019.2 release version might be good to go (as it will be published pretty soon most likely).
