    Hi All,
just installed 2018 on new laptop. thought I'd have a look at the 2D unity. So I started project in 2D mode. added a single quad. It looked very dark. So added a pure green material to it. You can barely see it, it's almost black. I thought it might be unity so tried the same in 3D and this shows fine. I noticed that the baking bar on the bottom right isn't moving in 2D.
I'm unsure if this is me, I've never used 2D before or if there's an issue with 2018 can anyone advise please?
    Thanks

I have the same problem. Try changing the color space from Linear to Gamma.

To do this, set Color Space to Gamma in the Player Settings window (menu: Edit > Project Settings > Player).

Thanks will try that. Have found in 2d if I set material shader to “unlit->texture” it also goes to correct brightness.

Tried the gamma setting, unfortunately didn't work for me.
