Unite 2016 - Melbourne, Australia, dates?

Is there any date set for Unite in Melbourne the year? Pax has changed to the weekend after Melbourne Cup instead of the weekend before like it used to be. That means that if Unite is held the week before Pax like it usually is it will clash with the busiest week in Melbourne & there will be no accomodation that indie devs can find/afford.

Hmm, maybe I can convince my wife to take the kids away for the week... then I have 5 free bedrooms about an hours train ride from Melbourne... Unite party?

 

Unite LA is going on the week of the Melbourne Cup so I doubt they'll have Unite Melbourne the same week. I'm also going to be in the area around that time and would love to know the dates so can I start to plan ahead.

 

Not a silly idea. I live in Melbourne and have a spare bedroom. I could talk to the wife.

 

It's Monday 31 October.

The full week is:

Unite: Monday 31 October
GCAP: Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 November
PAX AUS: Friday 4 - Sunday 6 November

Looks like I will just be doing Pax this year, there's no way I can afford Melbourne Cup week accommodation prices (& a medical condition means I'm not comfortable sharing accommodation with people that aren't family (who have no choice)). I think Pax et al may need to reconsider the timing a bit more for next year.

Schedule looks interesting, even if it is a little VR heavy. In a bizarre move it looks like I'm more interested in the graphics track then anything else.

Anyway, I'm keen to catch up with anyone who is going. Gather a few more names and faces to match the handles and forum avatars.

I can't make gcap or unite but I will be at Pax, sharing a booth with other Aussie tabletop designers (the TGDA, in the tabletop section near 93made games). We'll be showing our game Quaddle, which started as a paper prototype for a pass & play app game, if anyone wanted to drop by.
