Hey, I didn't see a topic about this since it the unite schedule for Seattle has come together. Let's talk about the Unite Seattle schedule! Last year was my first Unite and I thought it was a good time. This time, it seems to be forming up to be pretty interestingly. However, just a couple thoughts.

We don't have a keynote speaker this year? That's kind of a bummer you couldn't have hired one of your AAA studio's to help out (Blizzard?). Granted, I personally didn't find the talk that Richard Garriott to be all that informative, at least it looked good for Unity to have a top designer working in the engine. I hope that we'll get a more informative keynote now that you have 2 hours of our time to bedazzle us developers.

Day 1 14:30 - 15:30 slot - You stick Global Illumination, IL2CPP, and OpenGL at the same time? The lower level stuff and the new lighting engine is incredibly important, and it just is awful that I have to miss 2 of these talks.

Day 3 (besides the networking/audio talk) I feel is pretty light on Unity features. I'm not complaining too much, because I have to catch a flight and miss the last 2 talk slots. Last year it seemed to die out a bit on the third day anyways.

I am VERY glad that there is still a Road Map/Wish List talk. Even though the stuff talked about is way out there sometimes, it is very nice to get a Unity perspective on wish list features. There seemed to be concerns that doing the talk last year was maybe the last time they were going to do this.

A goal of mine this year is to bring a list of questions and problems to the Unity engineers to get some recommendations and questions answered. In doing so, I might miss a talk or two.

What do you guys think of the schedule?

The talks at Unite are recorded, so you can attend 1 talk and watch the video from another talk that happened at the same time. :)

Day 3 being 'lame' is pretty subjective. There are lots of interesting things being presented; console publishing, mobile performance tricks and Amplitude Studios talking about procedural content creation. :)

And Joachim Holmer's Shader Forge talk is pretty awesome!

Alright "lame" was a little harsher than I wanted to be. I edited the original post. Let's be friends! :D

I had no idea that the community talk was such an esteemed event! I shall make an effort to attend!

Personally, I've never found keynotes to ever really be informative. They're always kinda wishy-washy grandiose things that are supposed to 'inspire' you rather than inform you. This doesn't necessarily mean they're bad - they can still be fun and interesting, they still *can* 'inspire' you - but they're rarely informative. The exception is product announcement keynotes.

You should post your list on the forum ahead of time - maybe some of your questions can be answered by community members, leaving you free to bombard UT staffers with the really difficult questions ;)

Means you get to watch Aurore presenting with a cracking hang-over.
