Question Unique / Incrementing Build Number

Hello,

I would like to have an incrementing build number which is attached to each release. I feel this needs to be an automated process as manually managing it will clearly lead to problems. I thought about maybe some pre-compile script that edits some c# source file but that feels a little messy. I thought I would ask here as this is surely a problem multiple people have solved in the past. Thoughts?
