Any plans on add-on packs for additional animated characters? I'm trying to picture what kind of game I'd make with a single hero character and no enemies or other NPC's and I'm coming up blank. It'd be difficult for us non-artist types to create more characters & creatures in that style.

    Hello Steve!

    It's an interesting point.
So for you, in this state, it seems that our kit doesn't fit to your needs.
You say that it would be better to extend it with other characters for example.

At start this kit was intended for backgrounds. We decided to provide a character controller and animals scripts more as a "bonus"

Depending of the success of this pack, if we take the decision to add this kind of ressource do you think it would be a problem if we don't provide behavior nor code to control them?

What did you expect in terms of quantity of additional characters?
Should we create a lot of character with few animations or a small number of character with more animation?

No problem. I'd just need the artwork itself - no code needed.

I didn't have any specific expectations, but perhaps each character (or character pack of each type) could be a separate purchase. I was thinking in terms of a few neutral/friendly human and humanoid type characters that basically stand around waiting to be talked to, so maybe those types of characters would only require basic idle animations. Then some human enemies with full attack/death/walk/climb/etc animations and maybe even some pixel art style projectiles/weapon effects/explosions. Perhaps some androids. And finally some monster (or alien creature) type enemies with full animations. Not every game is going to have the same types of enemies (or even HAVE enemies), so that's why I was thinking that add-on packs could be interesting.

Given the choice, probably fewer characters with full animations would be more useful.

I don't have a specific game design in mind, but the artwork is cool enough that maybe I'd try to do a "bottom up" design and design something around the assets. I know your product is intended mostly for backgrounds, but having some related products where the characters and backgrounds all fit the same theme would be pretty unique in the asset store. And it'd be especially useful for us non-artists that aren't planning on farming out a lot of art.

I'd love to see a separate package with more characters to the same style, some with loads of NPCs that have the three basic animations(one attack(range or melee), fly or walk and run, maybe jump?).

Main character assets should contain multiple attacks(melee(3?) and one ranged), the weapon should be in a different slot. For example, for the main character you have in your current package I'd like to see him have a throw animation and then I'd have the staff fly around the map, while he can run around etc.

References(since they're pretty close to what you have already ;))

    PS: Great looking stuff.

I keep coming back to this pack. I really like the look and how you can build up the ambiance with it. The current game I am working on is almost craving for a pack like this...i wish I could do my own art to flesh out the other needs of my game in the vain of the art style (really it nails the feel of the game very well).

    hmmm decisions decisions ..

Purchased this the other day. I think it is an amazing set of graphics. I love how you included the character in with it too. My only gripe is that I would looooove for the character to have a sci-fi blaster instead of the staff he has. So I am going to try to alter the graphics to add something in, but I suck at art so who knows how it will turn out.

I seriously hope you do more packs like this.

    This is really awesome!!
    I love your art.

If it is not so big problem, can I ask you something?
Where did you learn pixel art.
I really want to learn motivation of pixel art.
