Unconventional Warfare is a top-down tactical shooter RPG in which you guide a band of cute soldiers through a warzone to safety. Rescue, train and manage your squad for the upcoming war of survival.

    Setting:
In 1925, decades of instability and corruption crumbled the once-strong foundations of Andarushia, plunging the nation into a turbulent civil war. The world turned a blind eye, ignoring the escalating atrocities, and so did you. That is, until your military plane crashed into the fiery plains of a country out for blood. Now trapped in hostile territory, you must apply your extensive military knowledge to not only survive, but lead a small band of inexperienced survivors to safety.

    Features:
    • Have you ever dreamed of commanding your own troop of charming girls(and guys)? This is your chance!
    • A fusion of real-time and turn based combat allows you to assess the battlefield, give orders and execute rapid action.
    • Command a squad of misfits through intense battles as they combat their own inner turmoil.
    • Choose from various WW1 and interwar era weapons, tanks and equipment to customize over 10 unique characters.
    • Two playable game modes available from launch: story campaign and sandbox modes
    • And more to come!

Sorry for the long delay, but we've been doing the indie developer thing where we almost completely neglected talking about game, because we were so busy working on it. And now that we're approaching the launch of our Kickstarter campaign, nobody knows about it. Lesson learned: promotion is part of your job as indie developer.
You can expect some more regular updates from now on.

We just posted the first devblog on Steam. In it we cover our upcoming Kickstarter campaign and a major feature of the upcoming 0.6 demo. The full post can be read here. A brief summary will be posted below.

    The new health system
If you download the current free demo on Steam or played older versions, the way the health system works is simple: health was represented by a single integer value. Damage was also handled by simple integer math.
With the new system, we're representing unit health in milliliters of blood and simulate damage to various body parts.

Before you could simply eat rations and camp to regain health. Neither option is available anymore. Your units regain health after each turn, based on how many rations are allocated to them. You can also rest in towns, but that costs money.

Another new feature is that your medic can transfuse blood between characters while camping. This does not increase the total amount of health in your squad, but it does allow you to handle weak links in your squad.

In future posts we'll be talking about more features, show off some artwork and we even have some technical deep-dives planned. Those will be Unity specific and show how we dealt with specific technical problems we encountered.
