Why not make it go to the unity3d.com page? or vice versa. I'm sure if someone hears of Unity they'll type in unity.com, not the madewithunity page of it. madewithunity should honestly be a sub-domain. Something like mwu.unity.com. That's just my take on it though.

hence - unity is still in it. unity3d.com should become unity.com. unity3D.com should just forward to unity.com.

I still think mwu.unity.com would be better, I've always just thought acronyms are better for sub-domains.
    looks much more cleaner.

Now if unity.com went to the current unity3d.com page, then mwu.unity.com or whatever else makes sense. But making unity.com and unity3d.com seperate pages can confuse new comers. But also it doesn't make any sense to have two separate domains.

Yeah, I never understood why Unity hasn't moved completely to unity.com from unity3d.com considering that Unity has had support for 2D games for a long time.

    Nevermind.

In order to reach the main Unity side from the 'Unity.com' domain, you have to click 'Back to unity3d.com' in the header.

So Unity3d still lives as an official name! :D

They could have written 'Back to Main Site', but no. Unity loves Unity3d as much as me!

    VIVA UNITY3D!

It's most likely a case of not breaking a trillion scattered links across the net.

Well you can make domains forward to another. So example there's millions of Unity3d.com links, well - make the site completely unusable and have CPanel or whatever they use direct you to the new link.

Also have the server check for incomming searches. So for example if someone is searching for this forum post, leave it as it is, and just replace unity3d.com with unity.com (Which is very much possible). and takes no more than a few lines of code in the .htaccess file.

So literally everything would stay the same, only the .htaccess file would overwrite the domain name to the newer one. So I would assume the rest such as (Domain)/threads/unbelievable.463850/#post-3014921 would still work.

My searches occasionally turned up religious articles in addition to Ubuntu. It got to the point I started telling Google to restrict my searches to the Unity 3D URL.

If Ubuntu is admitting it was a disaster I have to wonder if Microsoft will eventually come to the same conclusion.

Wow, and these are recent news.

But I don't think we should assassinate family unity :D

I agree but not for the same reason. I actually like the Windows 10 unified platform concept. Being able to run apps or play games that were previously only available on mobile devices on my desktop and laptop is a very nice advantage. It doesn't hurt either that Windows 10 has more flexibility when it comes to how you want the Start button to function.

For mobile devices I can choose a Start screen. For devices with large screens I can choose a Start menu. It's wonderful.

No, just this one. And Unity3D will be the only product with this name. :p
