"unapplied import settings" even though i pressed apply

Just a minor annoyance that im wondering if i can shut it up. changing import settings on sprites, i press apply, and once i click away to do something else, it still pops up with "unapplied import settings", and asks me to press apply again, afterwards it is fine

I know this question came up some years back, but I needed an answer when I opened this page.
I resolved this issue by clicking Apply on the WARNING that showed up in the Inspector after you have imported your file or sprites into Unity and NOT on the window pop-up that showed "unapplied import settings". I think the error is indicating that you need to apply the settings before clicking on any button. Check the screenshot
