Ultimate tank game!

    Hello this is my first post, and project! ;)

    I am working on this cool tank game.

    Rust and Steel


    Weapons:
    1.Cannon (Slow, Powerful, Short range)
    2.Sniper (Very slow, Powerful, Long range)
    3.Upshootter (Shoots up multiple minibombs)
    4.Machinegun (Fast, Medium range)

    You can customize your tank color, turret and special items.
    Ive made three special items so far,
    1.Radar
    2.Antitankmine
    3.Self controlled missile

    and LOTS differend of colors!

    Very interesting. :)

    You may want to check out World of Tanks. For an online, arcade style tank game that would be your main competition for the title of 'Ultimate Tank Game'.

    I am planning to publish a little demo soon... MAYBE!

    fix the windows mate, no building has windows that's height differ from left to right only vertically, having the windows off set gives the impression the floors inside are crooked and wonky and that doesn't sit well when playing a game.

    MrSmive : I know, i suck at texturing :) I tried to make the buildings look "bigger".

    takes time and practice mate, main thing is decent uvmaps, with them its pretty easy to get things looking good, but if all else fails a bsp style cube model with simple mapping and some regular tiled textures can work wonders, dont be afraid to make some pretty complex things with the unity cube things mate.

    MrSmive: I am too lazy to replace the buildings with yours, but i may use them on another map ;)
    So i just repaired my texture...



    PS: i am working on multiplayer demo right now.

    This is cool. Or it looks cool at least. Definitely gunna try the demo. But yea, like previously said, the buildings could be a bit better.

    nice dude, looks awesome to play! I am gonna HAVE to try the demo. and also, you should ave to take the time to go to a shop and buy the turrets and the new colors and all that. and anotehr cool thing to add: destructive environment. but those are just suggestions. :) put it up for demo and post the link!

    redone textures look better but still need to thicken the gaps between the edges of the walls and the windows, then they will look pretty good mate.

    I like the idea of TV guided missiles, they seem like a good addition to the game, because although they're powerful they also leave your tank quite vulnerable without your current attention. I can see that leading to some interesting tactics from players. Some tank animations would zazz things up a good bit though, especially seeing the tracks in motion (perhaps with some dust particle effects) and a bit of recoil from the main gun firing (again with a good muzzle flash and smoke). Even in simple games I always like the most basic actions to feel good and solid, and details like that go a long way. I'd take Mr Smives advice with the textures though, they still need improving a tad. Based on the size of the doors the tank is about the size of a golf cart at the moment, so a bit of tweaking could help get the scale looking more impressive.

    Overall though it's looking like it could be good fun in terms of gameplay. I look forward to seeing the finished product!

    I am so frustrated right now, i cant get the online gameplay work!
    I have to keep trying, but i I am afraid that the game, and even the demo will be delayed, BIG TIME!
    I have tried the networking tutorial, but still i am stuck :/

    I have been busy lately, so i havent got much time to make this (best)game(ever). :)

    Thanks for the tip btw, i have animated the tracks and they looks much better now! ;)
    I also updated the garage, here is a picture...

    Update!

    I just made a working weapons!

    Reminds me of the old Nitendo game, BATTLE TANKS (I think that is what it was called...) I love it so far, hope you finish it.

    Thanks! I love battle tanks :D

    I may publish a demo soon, but it wont include networking, just some gameplay.
    I just have to make a main menu, demo level and some details...

    Just a quick nitpick, but don't forget that the wheels are what give the tank tracks their shape. In the real world they'd collapse in on themselves at the sides in your tank. Also, instead of 'upshooter', how about something like 'mortar' or 'bombard'?

    Hehe, the skull wheels go quite well with the urban camo I reckon!

    I know that the tank doesn´t look very realistic, but it still looks cool :D
    Yeah, i thing i have to change the name "upshooter".

    What about name "Rust and Steel"?

    Project is not dead :)
    as a matter of fact, game is soon ready to be published!
    Bad news...
    10.1.2011 i will have to go... somewhere... for a year!
    So i have to rush! At least i want to publish that freakin DEMO!

    If you still need network help, I could help. Today, the day I post/posted this is the day I actually got my network problem fixed! If you go to networking and read From LAN ... To WAN (or MAN), using the unity network tutorial scripts, you could have this done in a day.

    hahaha omfg that trailer is pretty dam sweet man!, music is cool, the footage is cool, and the explosions are epic lol. the bit at the end with the customizing looks real sweet to man.

    I like the name better as well seems much more fitting mate.

    If you get the time do one with the standalone version rather than in unity, graphics will look better, not to much but just generally crisper and smoother fps.

    Project is not DEAD but it will freeze after 10.1.2011 (for person reason)

    Good news, networking is almost done!
    But i still need to add stuff etc...

    if you want to make cool and realistic textures use bump maps and normal texture maps.

    Ive had minimal time to work with the project, but i have done lot of things.
    -Menu (50%)
    -Mysterybox + Mysterybox "weapons" (25%)
    -New weapon (90%)
    -Network multiplayer gameplay (60%)
    -Graphics (?)
