I've imported a UI project I've been working on in 2019 and now I remark that the UI canvases are invisible (no control is displayed) unless I zoom sufficiently.

Same thing if I create a canvas/panel in a new scene...

Everything displays correctly in run mode.

    Anyone else getting this?

Downgraded to 2018.3b and no problem there.

The scene view camera far plane is by default at 1000, you can tweak it here to see farther (this is a new thing from Unity 2019)

Hi! There is an update in 2019.1a10 that introduces a new Dynamic Clipping option which will be on by default and replicates the old way of clipping (i.e. based on the size of the area the SceneView covers)

Oh, good. I admit, I'm no unity pro but this behaviour was off putting. :p
