I want to ask what is the outlook for UDIM material workflows and will they become a permanent feature in Unity? yeah i second this request udim should be second nature in any graphics engine. Ever tried photorealistic skin without UDIMs its next to crap with crap. and thanks for the blog i was going about making my characters all wrong...
There are some plugins for Unity that can handle UDIM workflows, but this should be a standard feature. I'm surprised that more people aren't asking about it.
Which plugins would those be? I am at a point in my development where I need to be able to use UDIMs in my work flow, I have amplify shader and texture editor, would those be able to do it? thanks for being patient with a newb... Cheers, Erik

Hi, Yes, the Granite for Unity plugin is unavailable. We are actively working on a new Granite integration into Unity with the goal of becoming the default texture streaming solution in Unity. The solution won't be available in 2019, but our goal is to ship as soon as we are ready.
Granite has been brought by Unity and their core tech haa been integrated into HDRP as the "virtual texturing" feature.
Streaming Virtual Texturing is indeed in preview as an HDRP feature. You can find more info here. Using SVT you can use much more texture data in your scene. We don't support UDIM yet but we are definitely thinking about how to best support it.
I'm finding the performance of this probably would not replace mip streaming for Quest or mobile VR, right? or can I use this for VR also?
