    these udemy courses seem to be almost always 90% off just to trick potential customers to think they are doing massive savings?

    Yeah, never pay more than £12 for a udemy course, because it'll be back on sale for £9.99-£11.99 within the month. Packt are another one, never pay more than £5.

    Standard business model for a lot of companies these days, doesnt take long to work out what their 'unofficial-actual' price is compared to the RRP.

    Never buy from those sorts of companies because they have a sale, only buy if you already want a particular thing, and wait till they have a sale.
