If I understand correctly in the new update there's an added APIs to update content catalog at runtime. How can we turn off this call from automatically happening during startup?

I would also like to know how to do this.

    Here is my usecase:
I have large videofiles as addressables on a remote server. As downloading them takes quite long, I want the user to be able to decide when to download or update these files. If I understand Addressables correctly, all I would have to do is not update the local catalog file so the old (cached) files keep getting used until the user decides to update.

Hey all, we already have this option underway. It should be available next release (1.4)

Sure thing, to use this feature go to your AddressableAssetSettings.asset object and on there there should be a toggle called "Disable Catalog Update on Startup". Once you've ticked that box content catalog updates will only happen when you tell the system to.

Let me know if you have any trouble with it.

Does this also work in Editor? I am testing it in the editor right now, but my addressables still get updated after activating that checkbox.

I believe the problem is when updating a previous build the catalog that is used for the editor automatically gets updated aswell. The catalog that is used in Unity Play mode should not be automatically updated when the "Disable Catalog Update on Startup" checkbox is checked. I was not able to confirm this theory yet.

Hi, buddy. Did you solve the problem? I'm having the same problem here. I'm using addressables version 1.5.1 and Use existing build play mode.

Hey all, I think you're right @LudwigVRtualX we'll have to look into that. Hopefully you can find a workaround in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt get optional updates to work yet. As far as I can tell, the problem is not only present in the editor but also in the build. Let me know once there are any news about the topic.

@DavidUnity3d Hi David, any update on this topic? Are we expecting a fix in a future version?

Hey everyone, we started looking into this and are having a hard time reproducing the issue. Has anyone filed a bug already? I just need a project that repros the issue that I can pull down.
