I'm coming back to unity after a few years. I wanted to test out my old project that I put on ice. I installed UnityHub for linux (I'm on ubuntu) following https://docs.unity3d.com/hub/manual/InstallHub.html#install-hub-linux. I was using unity 2019.4.10f1 (LTS) so that's the editor version I installed. I made a new test project to try and open the editor before porting in my game, but couldn't get it to open. I got the error:
[Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/london/.local/share/unity3d/prefs']

Is the issue that the project templates are not compatible with editor version 2019.4 LTS?

You need a bit more recent version mate.

Until fairly recently, I was running the 2021 version with no problem on Ubuntu.

You're totally right that old versions of the editor don't work (well?) with unity hub. Using a new version fixes that, but then I surely have compatibility issues with my game. Is there anyway to run the 2019.4 editor, through hub or otherwise?

    Unfortunately not.

It's only in the last couple of years that Linux support in general's been more than experimental, and it's still not perfect.
