I'm a beginner who is trying to create a tower defense mixed with a platforming game.
I believe that I should have a over world map, and some of the levels should be tower defense and some should be platforming. I want to try to make an avatar system in the game so users can customize their cartoon characters, and it would be great if I could add multiplayer to it. Are there any assets that could help me with my game?
Should I use the 2d map factory and SmoothMoves?
    Please help
    Thanks in advance, Sharkmaster

It sounds like you're putting the cart before the horse. You're talking about writing two games (a TD and a platformer), then joining them with some additional mini-games (the overworld, an avatar customization system) and then adding multiplayer. Sounds like good fun, and should keep you busy for a couple years at least!

But have you already written each of the primary games (the TD and the platformer)? If not, then you should start with each of those, before you worry about tying them together and adding bells and whistles. As a beginner, expect to spend 6 months or so getting your TD into good shape, and about the same for the platformer. Treat these as separate projects, and I'm sure you'll run into lots of questions and things you don't know how to do — ask here and we'll help.

My advice would be to not worry too much about the overworld, avatar customization, and multiplayer until later. Those will be relatively easy once you've got a couple of working games under your belt.

    Cheers,
    - Joe

Which one should I work on first?
And are there any tutorials for tower defense games?

Actually i would rather create just a tower defense game with avatar customization, multiplayer, and an overworld map, any ideas? I still want it to be 2D and for the iOS platform though

Well, if it's going to be 2D, then start by finding Unity 2D tutorials and going through them. There are a ton of great ones out there, and after you've done a half-dozen of these or so, you'll be well equipped to start on your own game!
