Hello everyone, I do not know if this post is in the exact location but if I am not asking the admin to remove it to the right place, well I have been working on a project for a railway simulator for a long time, now I am working on editing of the wagons and locomotives, and I come here to post a video about this edition and I hope everyone here likes, I would like some tips from the community about physics in the wheels of the trains if any one has any tips to pass me I am very grateful, a great mapping solution in this simulator. thanks for listening

My God, I'm disembedded Unity forum users do not speak anything of the others post, this help forum, my point of view if anyone need help with this forum here they will never, will have very slowly the forum posted yesterday my project here and no one said anything even though it was bad or good. Honestly I've seen better forums to mention that the project is bad and would be a nice suggestion. but thank you at least saw the post thank you

I'm not sure I understand. What is the game? I don't see any gameplay in the video or any description of it. Is it some type of puzzle?

I'm not sure why you expect anyone to comment on a thread that only shows you zooming around the Unity Editor with basic static models of trains.

this would be a prototype of a simulator, there already is with physics and is running on the rails, I will finish the scenario and I think a suggestive criticism would be important, so I posted here but okay sorry for the inconvenience to all

With a quick glance at your videos, they're a bit long and all seem to be just moving around and repositioning the trains.

You need to post specifically what you want advice/feedback on and perhaps an overview of your project goals.

What do you do in this simulator, do you drive the trains?
do you set up the tracks?
do you manage multiple trains and avoid collisions?
do you manually load up the trains at stations?

People aren't giving you feedback because you haven't asked specific questions.

You said "I would like some tips from the community about physics in the wheels of the trains"
Are you having trouble with wheel physics? Unity has wheel colliders and there are plenty of tutorials about adding wheels to cars.
I imagine trains would be almost the same except you'd want the wheels to be manipulated by the tracks?
It would be interesting to see if simply placing the train between the tracks with basic wheels and applying force would allow it to move like a train and stay within the tracks.
You could show us a video of that.

    Hope that helps!

yes today I will do a video about the physics on the wheels, it was certainly my fault and not explain better, later I put the video.

Good idea perhaps, but you have a long way to go IMO. Also this has been done already, there are numerous train sims out there, just to let you know :)

Here is a good example of a train simulation in Unity (work in progress).

    https://forum.unity.com/threads/odyssey-train-simulation-technical-demonstration.390332/

Most of the good train simulations support RailDriver controller ( http://raildriver.com/products/raildriver.php ). If you need a good unity input asset for controllers that supports RailDriver I would recommend Rewired (https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/utilities/rewired-21676). Rewired has a free trial version available so at least you can test the asset to see if it works for you.

What do you find when you search "train sim" in google?

There are literally hundreds of them. Here is a list of the potential top 20 train sim games out on the market.
    https://www.ranker.com/list/all-train-simulator-games-list/reference
Not to say you can't be successful though. You have to model your game on some of the other successful ones and then dramatically improve on it with your own. The only question here is to be realistic and honest with your self. Do you have the team or professional skills to create a train sim that's better than the one everyone's buying right now?

I know, that is why suggested the google search... why make a sim like this if there are so many already available? Either you do it for the love of your hobby, or it is a new/unique theme, that is my view on this.

Exactly. If this is your hobby and you don't intend to make any money doing it, that's perfectly okay too. However if you want to run a sustainable business and make money doing it, you'd better follow some business practices and give the market/consumer what it wants. I know I've always made the mistake of making what I wanted to make, or things I was interested in. You can do that after you've made money from giving the market a game it needs. Here is an excellent method for determining what you might work on to make some money.

right, but the intention and really create a branded product, I jgo and I know all the simulators of trains that exist in the market today, but there is always something missing in each one of them, but mine I'm going to do slowly until I get to where I see which is good to post later, I'm going to invest over $ 200,000 in it to stay the way I need it. to be able to sell

"I'm going to invest over $ 200,000 in it to stay the way I need it", wow, that is quite some commitment. Good luck. Wonder what others think of this amount of money you're going to spend.

Yes I will invest that amount, what others think I do not know, but I know it will be a good investment, and if I need to invest a little more I will do it but I want to have this job well done, and see them selling for main platform

Could you describe the game itself? The only thing I know is that it's a train simulator. The only videos are see are of static models and one translating (you said it was using physics to move the train, but how? I don't see the wheels turning.) You said you've been working on it for a long time though, so where's the actual game? Everything you've demonstrated I could duplicate in about ninety seconds: Import a model for the train, import a model for the tracks, attach a spline to the track, write a script to make the train follow the spline, write a first person camera. What do you do from minute to minute while player? Are you laying down new tracks and organizing the railroad, are you driving the train, and if so for what purpose?

In this video I followed to see the Train walking as I told you, we are still working on the physics system yet, and I am not using spiline system and I do not intend to use it, on the camera I am only using one just to see the performance , on the wheels I also noticed that they are not turning but this is being solved already, in another smaller video there is already the sound of the engine of the locomotive I will leave the link here

I think you have a big to do list, there is a loong road (track!?) ahead for you .
Also what makes you game different to the others?
Wish you success, but I feel it won't be easy as there are many completed/similar games available already.

First I want to thank you for the good luck, and I know it will be a lot of work that I have followed, but I know I'm going to win, I have a lot of support and I'm going to get thank you to everyone who commented. and soon I post video and file here

It still looks like a train just slowly moving around. Granted, it looks like some progress has been made.

Yes the progress is being made little by little, it does not implement the physics, a little more realistic and work on the scripts of couplings still this way let's say so buggy

I am fan of trains for over two decades. And have been playing such games as well.
I am only here, because of Train word in title.

Can you explain, what you expect from game, what supposedly other train games didn't have?
If you think on spending $200k on a game, I suggest let somebody else doing it, with an experience, if you consider selling it. Take only part on what you specialize at.

So far train models looks ok, but for this day, is just average. Environment is ok for +5 years old game. Ok is just prototype. But considering seeing massive lag, when you try do anything, I suggest refocus your work on the bottleneck.

You really need focus on answering community questions, if you want any sensible feedback. As so far, you have not described what game is about. Hence my interest is almost null.
