Totally new to Unity Visual scripting with limited time

    Good Morning/afternoon or evening Everyone. I trust you are all doing well.

    I am looking to get into scripting. Reason I am going with scripting is that when my Father was alive, he was a programmer and I just said I want to do my own thing. I am IT just not programmer. I may go for coding later on but I work for myself so have limited time.

    How long does it take to get semi familiarize with visual scripting? I am semi teaching myself but I do read some guides when I do not understand something. I am not going to do this for money or anything at the moment, it's just a hobby. I am just going to use it for myself and my family as all of us are into RPG's

    The second question is, what is the easiest program to learn how to make game assets for unity with limited time. I know blender is very good. I played a little with Maya. I am focusing on 2d for now as luck would have it.... I parked my AMD Ryzen for upgrades and then my I7's motherboard blew 2 caps.... So using not the best pc

    Getting the hang of a game engine system doesn't go that well with having little time.

    I would try to find a tutorial on visual scripting that has some things in common with what I want to create. Follow the tutorial, understand what happens and why. Then start tweaking it to make it my game. There is a lot of trial and error invovled but that is the good part, you learn a lot from it.

    For designing game assets, start easy, use cubes or spheres for example, replace them with "real assets" once your game starts to work the way you had in mind.

    Basic topics on https://learn.unity.com/pathway/junior-programmer are set for 12 weeks (4-5hr per week). Other quick materials.
    If you will know this, you can make some prototypes (with primitive shapes). When you be satisfied with the prototype you begin graphics, music, etc. Cooperate with someone or buy needed art. Another Pathway https://learn.unity.com/pathway/creative-core is another 10 weeks (4-5 hr per week) to learn about graphics in Unity, shaders, rendering pipes, etc.

    The above links I threat as 101. Rest is looking for ideas, learning from others, and reading a manual.

    Playmaker is the fastest way to learn and use Unity.

    Nothing comes close to its combinations of power, performance and proficiency. And it's integrated within the way Unity is, so learning to use Playmaker is learning to use Unity.

    I'm probably a bit stubborn, but learning the C# language seems much easier to me, while also providing something useful for further development (e.g., in the profession of a programmer). In comparison to learning a single tool that is only used in Unity.

    Like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
