Toon Town MMO

    If you have ever played Toon Town when you were a kid, you probably know that it has been taken down last year. Well, a few fans decided to recreate the whole entire game. They ripped models, music, animations etc. and started their own game (which now has 200,000 users). The whole game has been copied and they call it Toon Town Rewritten. Do you think that they will get a lawsuit sometime soon? Or what? They just released the game on Friday. Disney will find this out soon.....

    The 200,000 users is probably an overstatement... that's supposedly how many registered on the website. The active players is probably around 5000-10000.

    Disney already knows about it... haven't done anything about it yet.

    There are actually 2 Toontown duplicates up and running plus someone released an offline version with source with people to play around with.

    I believe Disney's other MMO... Pirates also has a 'Pirates Rewritten'

    It will be interesting to see if Disney does anything about it.

    Hi Joey. Congrats. ( if this is the correct Joey )

    However I'm not sure what TTR has to do with Unity since it's written in Panda3D

    Topics don't need to be Unity specific (think all the Minecraft threads), as long as they are general game industry topics we can all learn from, they should pass unnoticed under the Hippo's snout.

    The minecraft threads are all about Unity. Also, sleeping dogs and all that, if you catch my drift.
