The month of July should see Toon Planes and Toon Nature Assets receive a substantial content update (characters and vehicle interiors among other content).

As for new assets, work has started on Toon Fantasy Forest, a smaller package compared to Suburban and Harbor, which permits me to work on the updates without burning out ;)

Will there be interiors for the planes or which vehicle?
I might have to buy the pack for VR if that is the case :D

All vehicles (Planes and Nature) will receive interiors. Most likely the planes will also get interiors. Only the buildings from the planes pack won't have interiors.

Awesome pack, worth the wait & lots of modular stuff to use in many projects!

Looking forward to when you do a similar modular treatment to Toon City! Some of us need 500 story space scrapers made from stacking 1 floor at a time modules. :)

I did not watch the whole video but for the first part it looks like they use a dummy parent gameobject which instantiates / destroys a prefab as a child depending on the selected type in the menu. So I guess the coding part wouldn't be too bad but you will need a ton of premade tilable prefabs that match together to make the editor useful.

Some tiles seem to have a randomize options which I assume is also mostly done by setting some hand place empty spawn points and a list of possible spawn items, which would not be too hard to code either but also take a long time to setup in the prefabs spawn points etc.

I did not check but I think there is a good chance that a similar system is already available on the asset store or somewhere else.

The grid movement / snapping already works by default with the scene editor as long as the prefab tile size / grid settings match

I like the fact that the style of the packs all work together nicely but do the buildings packs have interiors or just some?

The latest packs have interiors (Toon Harbor & Toon Suburban Pack), the other packs don't.
During this year and the next, the other packs should get interiors in updates.

    Will do!

The scene was incredible big on toon suburban so i took and baked it into 1 object and it worked nice without any lag, but when baking i found that some of you objects in the scene miss there mesh, so i will write here wich one so you can fix it.

    TSP_House_Wall_Special_04B_Window.M : Missing Mesh
    TSP_Road_straight_04A_Leaves : Missing Mesh
    TSP_SUV_02B_Taillights : Missing Mesh

This is only in the Demo Scene so just thought i add it incase you wanna fix it.

i would like to make a suggestion aswell while im here, the scene as you have them now is fine but would suggest you added same scene but were all objects are baked into 1 object, so you have 2 scene of the same one.
1 that is baked all objects into 1, and 1 that is modular and you can move pieces around like the scene already is in the toon suburban pack.

    Call them something like:

    Demo Scene 1
    Demo Scene 1 (Baked)

The reason for this is going thru the scene it lags alot due to all objects so i baked it to 1 object and now i can lag free check it out, ofc i cant move any objects in that scene but its nice if u just wanna see thru it and not lag, and me that have baking tool its fine but not everyone have it, just a suggestion.

Nice package btw, really like it.

Edit: Picture are in the next post.

As you can see the none bake scene have 35074 batches while the baked one have 13 batches, a huge performance boost.

Im going thru you other assets and found a few others that miss mesh in the demo scene.

I really dont now why this happens but i only found it because i cant bake objects that have a mesh renderer but no mesh.

Thanks for the list, I'll fix the issues very soon.

At least in Toon Suburban Pack the issue lies with the prefabs, the imported models are fine, there are some naming differences in some components, I probably changed the naming and reimported the assets, after making prefabs for them and the meshes got lost. And I didn't see them missing most likely.

I have an issue with the URP tree shaders, they all appear white from some angles. Any thoughts?

Yes, it looks like in newer versions of Unity there are different, default lighting settings.
I'm pretty sure it's the environment reflections intensity multiplier. Reducing it seems to solve this.
Alternatively, if you have some custom skyboxes or cubemaps, you can get some interesting visual results.
See the attachment below for the setting and their respective outcome.

After that, Toon Fantasy Forest, which is about half-way done.

@Flawless83 , what baking tool are you using? I've been trying to get framerate back with Performance Tools by New Game Studio and Imposters - Runtime Optimization by StarasGames. Haven't tried baking yet.

Specifically I'm experimenting in the Toon City level.

    Occlusion culling
Swapping toon shader with black outline to toon shader without takes the polycount from 8 million to 4 million. Using Performance Tools occlusion culling (it's better than Unity's default occlusion culling tool) drops that down to about 300k polygons and a significant frame rate boost.

    Billboards
Billboards tool in Performance Tools crashes Unity when I try to add the entire scene and setting up groups takes a long time and is hard to get right so I swapped to Imposters - Runtime Optimization's billboards which is much easier to set up. This drops the polycount more and gives some more framerate back.

I haven't quite balanced everything yet but one of the problems is the batches are still high. I wonder if it can be combined with these other two techniques or if it would be too difficult.

Here's links to those tools in case anyone is curious:

I used meshbaker, had it a long time and its a great mesh baking asset, can also bake texture into atlases. Also have great reviews. Also if u bake several object i think that can be used with imposters for better optimization if you want to see buildings from far away. But havnt tried that.

Toon Fantasy Forest is almost ready, just running a few more tests before submission.
After that, most likely an update for Toon City and Toon Farm.

I am wondering if you have plans of releasing a character pack that would have characters like: police, firefighters, construction workers, private detectives, bank robbers, (generic) super heroes, etc. By having a variety of character types that match your great art style it opens these packs up for a lot more game types.

A new character pack is in the plans for this year, which should be more customizable and should have more diverse content than the Toon City People pack. I can't give an exact launch date though, because it depends on a lot of factors.

    Cool. :)

Would you say that the Fantasy Forest pack compliments/enhances the other packs (like Toon Nature)? Looks like the theme is compatible, guess I am curious how many new rocks/cliffs/trees/etc there will be.

It should be a very versatile pack, I've tried some mix and matching with other packs from the series and it works very well in my opinion, especially newer packs, like Toon Suburban and Toon Desert.

    screen_2048x1152_2022-01-31_03-30-50.png
One house (top left) is from Toon Suburban, the ones on the right are from Toon Desert and the boats on the lake are from Toon Nature.

With Toon Nature it's a bit different when it comes to vegetation. The visuals are a bit different for my taste to be put together in the same scene, but I guess it depends on the user's taste.
In Toon Nature the trees are more cartooney, probably more suitable for a top-down experience.
In Toon Fantasy Forest, the vegetation has more detail. The shaders used here have wind effects, the grass is made with geometry (though there will be textures provided for terrain grass billboards). Most of the vegetation assets have LOD's implemented.

    screen_2048x1152_2022-01-31_03-51-25.png
The trees in the center are from Toon Nature, everything else is from Toon Fantasy Forest. Not a huge difference from this distance, but once you see the wind effect on the newer trees or if you zoom in, it becomes apparent.

I got Toon City People and Toon Harbour Pack I was wondering if I can take the Characters from Harbour and use them inside Toon City' Fatness Level Script? Can I have Harbour Char with different shapes?

I've just seen the YouTube video for Fantasy Nature - and it's beautiful, well worth the wait!
Can I ask... I just use your packs in Blender to make videos...

Is that still feasible with Fantasy Nature? Are those gorgeous skyboxes images or a Unity-only thing?

Are the tree-wind-animations part of the FBX and usuable in Blender?

    But amazing work as always!

    Thanks!

I haven't used skyboxes in Blender, but if there's an option for 6 sided skyboxes, then they should work in Blender too.
The tree-wind is achieved with a Unity specific custom shader, but the information on which vertices are influenced by the wind, is stored in the vertex color of the mesh.
So the effect might be feasible in Blender too.
