For those of us who are new here, is there a sample object that we can import into our project to 'kick the tires' and see how one would use the output and use it in our project to walk around (2d)

    Hello :)

Yes, you can download Toon Gas Station, it's free:
    https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/environments/urban/toon-gas-station-155369

I don't know how it will look like in a 2D project, but it might be fun to try it out.

A lot later than I would have hoped, but here are some screenshots from the demo scene (still WIP at the time of taking the shots).
The final scene will include a lot more details, because I got a bit carried away with modeling assets and the total number is around 1500... This is also the reason of the delayed launch.

The price will probably be $53. I hope to submit it this week, over the weekend, just some lighting and some testing left.

    Here it is:
    Toon Harbor Pack

It's still new, the HD version hasn't been processed yet.

And yes, the new pack will be a suburban pack :)
Some content updates in the mean time are planned though.

How about some new selections for the "What would you like to see added in the Toon Series" poll?

Since some of the ones on the current poll have been done. :)

    Hi @marincastefan
I hope this the right place to ask this.
We have bought Toon City pack, everything looks good so far, but there is something I need your help with.
you have categorized every alike things in Demo_Scene_1 like Buildings, Billboards, Stairs, Antennas etc. but the problem arise when let say if I have to disable or destroy a Building, it gets disappeared but the props like Billboards, Stairs, Antennas stay as it is like they are hanging in the air which looks really weird. (Attached an image)
What can I do to make them disappear with building altogether.
Of course I can make props child of the buildings but as you know city is huge and will take way so much time to make them so.

Is there any alternative to do it?

    Yes, the right place :)

Unfortunately, the extra props have been placed independently of the buildings and probably the only way is to group them as child/parent.

Cool. What is after the suburbs?

I finally had time to mess around with the Harbor pack (bought/downloaded weeks ago no time to try it out). Love the modular aspect of the buildings and components. It fits in really well with the earlier Toon Industry pack too. Some of the modular pieces from harbor will find their way into my current project.

    That's awesome to hear!

After Toon Suburbs, I'll start rolling out some content updates for existing packs. After that, probably a forest/nnature pack with different (but still toon styled) vegetation.

    Hi again @marincastefan,

I am facing another issue in the Tooncity asset I bought regarding scene lighting,
Actually the scene has some extra shadow other than one which is generating by sun(directional light) which is fine but this other shadow is so weird and it appears and disappears whenever my player moves in the game or in scene view when I move my look around.
Attaching a link for a video showing the issue.
    Please help!

    Hello again :)

First, make sure you have the newest version of the pack from the Asset Store, the previous version had an older version of the shaders (haven't seen weird effects like these with the older shaders, but you never know).

Could you provide some more details about the lighting settings used in the project?
Also, what pipeline and what version of Unity are you using?

I'm not sure, but it looks like this issue might be originating from shadow or lighting settings (Project Settings/Quality, Graphics. etc).

Depending on the pipeline, the location of those settings will change.

    Hi @marincastefan thanks for replying.

I'm sure I'm using latest package from unity store.

let me add more images to show my all the settings related to lighting.
    DirectionalLight.png Enviorment.png Lighting1.png Lighting2.png lightingSetting1.png DirectionalLight.png Enviorment.png Lighting1.png Lighting2.png lightingSetting1.png

Adding link for another video to show you the issue again :
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ACWzrB6SDUJUv8ecDSYEcKp4DK0aCDRv/view?usp=sharing

Also there is so much jittering and flickering can be seen on the trees around the city

Please let me know if you want anything else

This looks like it's worth investigating.
Just a couple more questions, what Unity version and pipeline are you using?
And is the pack imported in a fresh project, or an existing one?
Also, if you disable the post processing effects do the artefacts disappear?

    • Unity version : 2020.2.3f1
    • Pipeline : URP
    • Pack imported in a fresh project.
    • Issue is still there even if I disable Post Processing.

First of all, thanks for bringing the issue to my attention, the fix is already planned for a quick update in the next few days.
Until the update goes live, you can install the attached .unitypackage file, in your URP project (After the initial installation of the URP installer).
It replaces the Toon shaders with an updated version that fixes the shadow flickering.

I've tested it again and it works on my end. Same Unity version, same problem, same fix.
Please check the attached video. Recorded after the URP installation.

The default settings, I used the same conditions as you posted above, clean Unity project, 2020.2.3f1, and the Toon City pack 1.4 from the Asset Store.
I'm starting to get lost here :)
I have the same issue with the flickering, but the new shaders solve it for me.

However, I just submitted the update for Toon City and usually it doesn't take more than a day to go live, that (hopefully) will fix the issues.

Thanks, this is my favorite pack so far in terms of looks.
I will probably finish it this week, probably submit it during the weekend.
Could you please review Toon Harbor if you haven't already?
It currently sits at 2 reviews and it would help a lot. Thanks!

The price will probably be 52 USD, but I will try out the new feature with a promotional price for the first weeks after launch.

Yes, the package is modular. For the transparent windows there is the option to change the material from transparent to opaque if needed.
It should be ready for release in a couple of days.
    Thanks!

I loved the variety of the "Toon City People" asset! The character suit more for Urban/Rich setting. But I was looking for something like average dressed, low economy (poor.. for lack of words) people pack. This is for a game that has country affected by war.

    Thanks!

There definitely will be more character packs coming (maybe very similar to what you have suggested), but at the moment the future planned packs in the series are most likely going to take until the end of the year at least, so we're looking at a pretty far launch date.

Looks pretty cool, I will find a lot of uses for this pack. The ladder left on the roof is totally my neighbor, except they left some other tools too.

Are you trying that "New Release Discount" feature?
