Hello all! I've just started working on a project with another person who lives on another continent. It's going great, but we are running into issues with making sure each of us has the latest version of the game, and that we aren't both changing the same script or object in different ways. I was wondering what is some of your advice for working in a seperated group project to keep everything inline.

I use an asset from the asset store called Advanced Additive Scenes it's perfect for the tasks you mention. Does seem to prevent a lot of problems that do arise with version control - in my case the version control kept on overwriting a model that had been retextured so that one team member never saw the new textures. This was more to do with lack of knowledge when it came to version control but still it never happens with this plugin.

Version control for sure and you also should make *everything in every scene* into small logical prefabs so you can both apply changes to a prefab and check those in, but not need to check in the Scene all the time (no way to merge changes like that to a Scene currently).

We use tortoise and this https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/3350 if you want to try it remember to install command line client when installing tortoise or any other version control client.

We use separated scenes (one for each user) and we have the same prefabs on each one.
Stay away from modifying the same prefab at the same time and you'll be ok.
