I'm making an animated short. It's going decently, but i've recently realized that I can achieve walking animation faster by simply giving the character's a path that they follow. My question is how would you use pathfinding in the timeline?

It is the timeline forum There isn't really a built-in pathfinding for timeline (Timeline requires you to author the path using animation), but you may want to check out Unity Recorder (let's you record a sequence back to a clip), and/or Kinematica (figures out the best animation from motion).
