Tiles and tile maps -- water flowing through pipes during runtime

    What's the best way to accomplish this or at least get a start? I've tried all sorts of ways to apply masks to the tile grid and tile maps (Sprite and regular) in order to be able to mask a "water" object into the shape of the pipes that I can move around, but none of them seem to work.
