[tilemap] Some scenes became very slow to load.

    I'm working with tilemaps and some of my most heavy scenes take around a minute to load.

    I used to work on version 2017.2 and it took a couple of seconds for the heaviest scenes.

    I really appreciate the massive upgrade of the tilemap workflow, but I can't use it because of the new loading time.
     
  2. If you think something is wrong or it is a regression, please, submit a bug report. Don't just leave it alone. It's an open beta, if you don't submit a bug about it, it's a risk that it won't be fixed.

    Might want to split the maps into smaller, more manageable chunks such as 32x32. Then load / unload the tilemaps dynamically according to the position of the camera

    As @LurkingNinjaDev suggested, please submit a bug report with a minimal reproduction project for this issue. If you reply in here with the issue ID, we can process it faster.

    I submited a bug report with assets and instructions to reproduce the bug. I still did not get any email to confirm the registration of the report (I don't know how long I'm suppose to wait for it).
    I could reproduce the bug very easily in a brand new project.

    Your report is in the system and I've forwarded it.
    Apparently there's an issue regarding the confirmation responses. Some reports don't receive a response. The team is investigating.

    Thanks. I'm wondering if other tilemaps users encountered this problem. After further testing, it seems to be quit systematic. Everytime I use tilemaps (after some filling with different tiles) it leads to slow loading time.
    It's very easy to reproduce.

    Could you tell me how can I access the progress of the report ?
    I checked the issue tracker but couldn't find it here.

    The case will appear on the issue tracker once it has been processed and confirmed as an issue. You should get an email from QA once they've done that. Once the case has been set to be displayed publicly, it will appear in the issue tracker the next time it updates (once an hour, if I'm not mistaken). This is the ID of your report 1087732. I'll reply here with the link when I become aware of it.

    Hi, just wanted to know if there were any news about the tilemap bug.
    We would love to upgrade to 2018 but this bug really gets in our way.

    the same problem. A scene with a big tile map is very slow
