TikTok App has made me realize just how important business and psychology is to Programming

It doesn't even seem like advertising has any role at all, the simple nature of TikTok perfect targeting of Generation Z's 7 to 15 second attention span has been a remarkable combination for success. I noticed the exact same trend with the Chinese version

Since Generation Z is increasingly looking for platforms to get away from, TikTok has the perfect timing and design, almost like the developers had a time machine.

 

You know Vine launched three years before TikTok and had fundamentally the same premise, yeah?

 

Never heard of Vine until now

 

Instagram has some overlap with both of them, and it's now nine and a half years old.

 

If your business is a service and your customers are human... what did you think was important?

 

What does this have to do with programming, really?

 

Also, it's not like Gen Z is just trying to "get away from other platforms." There are specific motivations related to these migrations. Facebook is largely seen as being used by older people, Instagram has been burning through a lot of good will with its userbase (but is still going strong), Twitter is just a complete nightmare from top to bottom...

But even that's a pretty limited view. A lot of people are using these platforms in tandem with one another.
