    Title : Thousands Layered Edge (Sen-sō no ken)
    Platform : Android
    Genre : Action/Fighting

    Now that I'm satisfied with the ink painting shader (I'll just call it Enso shader :D ) now it's the time to step to the gameplay... The core is basically from my other unfinished game Timun Mas : The Giant Huntress but with everything stripped out except for the fighting section. Instead of just duplicating the project and removing unnecessary files, I decided to build the project up from empty project while reusing any necessary assets and codes...

    The circle is actually a sphere

    Very cool Ookami shader. Does this fully support mobile?

    It's target platform is Android and running quite smooth on my mid-lo android phone :)

    Nice. I wonder how the game-play would be.
    Gesture / Gyroscope / Accelerometer?

    The game core is swipe based fighting like stormblade or infinity blade.
    Swipe to attack or parry and double tap to evade. double tap position decides which direction she will dodge...

    I see. I just imagine using my phone VR on with this calligraphy art style...
    Should be quite cool and unique. Don't know if that is possible.:D

    It should be possible, although the shader doesnt work well with hard edges (like cube etc)

    BTW, added lifebars, still not as I expected (Id like to change the built in fill behaviour) but it will do for now..

    Hi Would you be willing to sell / share your ink painting shader, I have a bike game for android that might suite this.

    Unfortunately the shader is not a magic elixir that work out of the box on every situation, but I do plan to release a post mortem about how to achieve that 2D painting feel later after the game released..

    decided to discard the terrain mesh and use simple plane and tree sprites billboards

    Added enemy's hit animation, river scene, victory menu...

    Agreed - the font is a bit hokey. But ALL faux-japanese fonts are a bit hokey. There is a free* one out there called Fujimaru which might be closer to the theme of sumi-e. As with many decorative fonts, uppercase only.

    *edit: free for non-commercial, cheap license for commercial

    Just realized that when looking at her face, the detail went missing because of the brush-stroke-imperfection shader, so I have to modify the shader a little bit...

    Some models actually can represent old japanese culture :)
    But for right now, I aim for interchangeable clothings and parts so I can randomize the clothings...

    But, I bookmarked the site for future reference :) ...

    Indeed the font is very hard to read. You can take font ref. from 大神 English version...
    Fonts that looks natural and handwritten which are easy to read is perfect.

    About the title, you directly translated from English to 千層の剣 right I guess?
    千層 sounds like layered cakes, you can try to search in Google and see...:D
    Maybe just use 千 ("Sen"), hence 千の剣舞. Sounds more elegant and artistic.
    Or can use 閃 ("Sen"), hence 閃の剣舞. Sounds more epic and fast paced.
    I added 舞 behind. 舞 means dance, hence sword dance.

    Looks very interesting so far, keep it up.;)

    That's perfect :) thanks... But the license is unknown though, I might just have to contact the author directly...

    Actually I was referring the method of creating a katana which consists of thousands of layers of steel by folding the steel several times on forging process... I didnt expect it to have something to do with cake :D
    閃の剣舞 sounds cool btw, the characters special move will be named on the dance of flowers :)

    Working on second minigame...
    Still not sure if the view would be full side view, or slightly forward angled sideview like this one. Or maybe from behind like usual endless runner... If it's sideview then the minigame would be tap to jump avoiding pits and obstacles, while the view from behind would be swipe left/right to avoid games
