Thoughts about my possible new UI for CataPoultry

    Hi all,

    I have been looking at part of my UI, and I want to get rid of some text. Which version looks better - text or no text?

    Also, do these 4 images read well? What would you say the special ability of each egg is based on these images?

    #4 doesn't read very well.
    I don't think this does either, but might give you an idea to pursue.

    Yeah thats much more readable - thanks for the suggestion! I hope you dont mind if I run with something similar to that?

    IMO, text leads to localization issues. If you can get your point across without it, do it! You wouldn't want non english speakers to downrate your game because they didn't understand how it works (assuming you're not localizing). People have a lot to say when they dislike something...

    Even if both are very important, I believe getting customers to properly understand your game should be given priority over an incredible UI.

    edit: And to actually stick to the topic, I prefer the version w/o text.

    Thanks for the feedback - localization (or avoiding it as much as possible) was part of my thinking with moving away from text as well, so I think I will head in the image direction.

    Thanks for the feedback - between here and twitter I have changed the bottom two tiles to these:
    Left is 'Tap for speed boost' and right is 'Tap to get bigger'
