This sale is a greedy marketing strategy and I think is a bad idea.

Doing a race between developers to get assets is just awful, is creating a false shortage and adding a limited time.

I'm the only one that thinks that this greedy marketing strategy is a bad idea?

You can still get the asset, just not at 90% discount. After the first 470 people have bought their license, you still get a 50% discount until December 4. So.... where's the shortage? #honestquestion

They advertised a discount 90% and people made a decision based on that discount, sadly that discount is only true for the 1-2% of the people willing to buy that asset, and the 80% discount is for the 10% (could be 5% or 15%)... So the shortage is totally true because 98-99% of people wont receive what it was advertised.

Secondly they made a tier based offer so they urge you to buy this and force a less rational decision and more based on the urge to get it (Mainly because if you hesitate at 90% you won't have it or if you hesitate and 80% you have a short amount of time) so this is a time shortage and sincerely to perform business decisión some time is needed.

If they want to offer great offers they are dozens of ways to do it different that making a race between developers, sadly this method will grant them more purchases that other tactics.

If you care about your customer you try to offer great value without manipulating them, sadly manipulating is a great way to increase sales...

All this tactics are the ABC of aggressive marketing and this tactics performed by a small company competing versus others I feel is totally legit, but Unity is a company with a strong monopoly of the assets in his engine and they don't need to do it beside grabbing more cash.

P.S: If you want an example look the EPIC approach, when they want to offer great value stuff they simply offer it without dark strategies and in terms of size both are monsters that worth several billions.
