Good start. Some nice hips :p

I guess I will also enter. Just for fun.

Edit: Maybe the head is a little bit too big.

Good point on the head, I kind of agree after taking a break from it looking at it. Will change during sculpting.

    Cheers!

First pass on the sculpt. Took down the head size.

Didn't finish hands yet and have no reason to finish feet because she will have some kind of boots on.

    Concepts drawing next.

    Thoughts welcome.

Thanks, glad I entered too this will be good for my spirits. Been down about modeling for a while. Huge hiatus from it for the past year. This is the kind of thing I need to get me roaring again and encouragement or feedback from other people.

Yikes! Her clavicles are way too low. I'll need to fix that on my next pass. Maybe I'll work on the sculpt some more tonight. My goals are to have the concept and base modeling done before April so I can focus on the sculpting, texturing and retopo then.

    Great first pass.

Keep it up, don't fall back into that hiatus. Finishing a character will raise your spirits and keep you going!

Great work, very smooth topoligy and looks very clean, I think we all have bad falls when we do any form of design or any job. I have a tendancy to fall away from my modelling. I hope to get back into it soon but Its the texturing stage that always puts me off.

Looking forward to seeing the final piece :)

Nice job so far. I wish you luck.

And I only reason I say that is because I'm no artist, so wouldn't enter it myself.

Nice asymmetrical concept TheLlama. Is that a slave/prison collar, or just something all the cool Pirates are wearing these days? :)

Good progress so far, looking good, I like the concept. Looks like a cyborg pirate will be born :) Keep up the work and never give up, would be waste of talent.

@NomadKing, I'm trying to work the Helium3 point mentioned in the contest story into the design of the character. I was just throwing down some objects. I'm thinking some kind of backpack + the glowing lights to show the energy. In my next few concepts I'll try a more contained suit idea and run the theme of the H3 being used to keep the wearer warm in deepspace. I do like the arm idea, needs some more work, little bland right now. I welcome any thoughts or cool reference anyone might know of.

@3dviewpoint, thanks for the vote of confidence, means something to me, it really does. :)

Decided to try the leg instead. Seems like everyone will go for the arm.

The rest needs some work but i'm liking the new mech stuff.

I think the leg does work better than the arm, but now the upper body seems a bit plain in comparison to the lower half - she probably just needs a bit of 'gearing up' (Straps, shoulder pads, armor pieces or maybe even a jacket).

I agree. I like the idea of a jacket of some sort, a few straps and an rifle.

I really like the direction this is going. And the leg is looking great. I agree about the jacket though, or maybe even just a vest. Ever see the movie pandorum? The female character in that has a pretty awesome vest and elbow pad design.

    @NomadKing lol, touche.

@Skylebones I actually just saw it about 6-8 months ago for the first time. Not a bad adventure. I'll take a look at her again and see if I get inspired.

    Cheers!
