    The Story :
Accused of murdering the town High Priest's daughter our protagonist "The Prince" is sentenced to death. But the death penalty is unusual in this town. Rather than outright execution those sentenced to death are thrown into "Hell" a massive chasm that reaches deep into the earths crust. Through divine intervention or sheer luck our protagonist doesn't die when he hits the bottom, rather he safety lands on a pile of corpses. But there is no light down here... and he begins to hear whispers in the darkness, beckoning him forth. He travels blindly through the darkness for a bit before stumbling across a magic sword of pure light, and a suit of shining white armor. Now his fate lies in your hands. Can he ascend from the deep subterranean underworld back to the surface to prove his innocents? Or will he succumb to hunger... fatigue... perhaps he'll be slain at the hands of the horrors that linger below, his mangled corpse to dwell beneath the crust forever. Only time will tell.
    Characters :
The Prince : A young man charged with a crime he doesn't even remember committing. Cast into the depths of the Earth as punishment. He now dreams of ascending back to the surface and redeeming himself. There are many challenges that lie before him... none of them easy.

The Man From Another Place : A stranger to the underworld. He trades the Prince upgrades in exchange for food. But who is he? What is he doing down here? He is not of this place...

The Lost Merchant : In a fit of rage he murdered his wife. Now he haunts the world below, searching for beads to her necklace. The only object of hers he still possesses. He'd be willing to part with more than a few things if you brought them to him. Maybe you two have more in common than you think?

Story sounds quite compelling. Very intrigued about the "slow and methodical" platforming. Can you explain this in more detail in relation to any Castlevania game? Could this be compared to Simon's Quest with survival elements?

All still wip of course - just pointing out the walk cycle would be improved with one extra 'tween' frame between these two frames in the attached gif.

Looks like another interesting offering Raz!

Well in most platformers to get from the place you are to a place above you you'd simply jump. However you can't just jump up in this game. You're armor is too heavy, you're character doesn't have super human legs that let him jump 3x his height. So what does he do? He grabs the ledge and pulls himself up!

Running alot makes him tired, when he's tired his energy regenerates slower which makes combat more difficult.

Falling down long shafts can break your legs causing you to walk painfully slow. (Not sure if I want to keep this yet. It makes gameplay reallyyyyyyy slow once you break your legs until you get them fixed.)

It's a great concept! I would advise you to keep something in mind though.

The game seems very bleak by design. This isn't a bad thing on its own, but make sure you have moments of levity and empowerment. Moments that the players can experience, and then look forward to. It could take the form of random power-ups a la binding of Isaac, or story moments that surprise the player, or anything really. Something to break up the dread.

    Good advice!

I love fourth wall meta stuff so you can expect some of that. As well as some levels focused on story and not fighting/platforming.

Some sort of permanent upgrades would be great, but aside from stat increase (which currently exist) I haven't thought of any yet.

It's on the back burner but it's still cooking.
