    I don't have any modeling programs :p

    I'll say it again... and again if you need. I'm gonna get to that later! I'm setting physics, and in that video, I show that I'm setting up critical stuff for the game to work right.

    All that stuff is gonna be made, the for this thing, the physics engine is only gonna be used to move the parts, the acual stuff happens in code

    I think a lot of us would prefer if you came back with larger updates every week or two. If you want to detail your progress, start a blog and link it.

    Good Idea, I think I'll start a update blog or what ever, and thanks for reminding! I was meaning to do that yesterday.

    Here's a question, how are you going to have the physics engine handle belts? Because that is a mechanical part of the engine and you said you were going to do all of that with the physics engine??

    What critical stuff is there? Gravity? Gravity is already built in, changing gravity to something stronger or lower isn't modifying the Physics Engine.
    Using a Physics Material to add friction and bounce is not modifying the Physics Engine.

    So what exactly is so critical to your Gravity dropping a cube?

    You never explain what you were even doing in the video. YOu just say its something critical, it's just gravity, maybe adjusted a little bit perhaps, but yeah that's all we see.

    And again, and again, aaaaannnnnd again, why didn't you name this thread "Physicly realistic vehicle sim" BTW its spelled Physically*. When you're not even doing vehicles right now.

    "stout" ?? Ohhh, You invented a really neat new scientific physics term. :)

    The reason no one "gets it" is because you are doing a poor job explaining yourself and it sounds like you are making things up.

    I'm not convinced that you have a very good understanding of these concepts. You can relate mass to weight like this..
    mass=weight/acceleration due to gravity

    or you can relate mass to density like this...
    mass = density * volume

    But I have never seen m = density/weight

    .. I don't have a physics degree either, but that doesn't look right to me.
    density is measured in kg/m cubed
    weight is Newtons which I think can be expressed as kg * m/s squared
    I don't see how dividing those gives you mass which is measured in kg.

    first stop falling cubes, next stop internal combustion engine.

    You're my new favorite forum [insert preferred derogatory name here].

    I think it would be an amazing tech demo, but I don't think people would play this over other vehicle sims.

    You might want to have waited until you had something worthy of showing before making a thread to avoid all of the above. Anyone can do falling cubes and no one cares about how you made them fall. Show everyone your physics driven engine and everyone will shut up and say congratulation, but for now don't be surprised if everyone is laughing at you. The gap between cubes and a fully simulated engine is quite large.

    But everyone told me the same when I started working on my project so I'm not judging. Good luck with this project

    It's not even the fact that he is trying to do what he is supposedly trying to do. It's that PLUS sounding like an almost complete TROLL about it that makes it hilarious and completely crazy.

    If someone started this thread and gave bullet points of how they planned to accomplish this task and sounded like they actually understood what was going on and the limitations of the engine and how to overcome that, then I think this thread would be night and day different.
