Feature Request The problem with the Variables component

    The problem with the Variables component is that when a nested Prefab with a Variables component is edited in Prefab editing mode and an attempt is made to reflect the changes, all registered variables are reset, making it difficult to use. It would be desirable to improve the specification to recognize changes for each variable like serialized variables in scripts.

    The tool was made before nested prefabs were a thing by a 3rd party developer hence why this problem still exists today. They're working on a new major version of the tool, which seems to be a full rewrite from ground up, so this should be fixed by then. It'll take them 2-3 years per the stickied November 2022 update, though.

    If I recall, this issue along with a few others were fixed with Bolt 2.0. It's a total shame Unity decided to kill it because it offered so many benefits over Bolt 1.0.

    That ship has long sailed. We can only look forward to what ever they're cooking up now.
