I'm using Unity 2020.3 with HDRP for my project and I've found light layers to be especially frustrating to use. I have a simple goal in mind: to exclude interiors from receiving directional light. But my scene is huge, and while it's organized nicely in the hierarchy, I don't have the time to select each individual mesh renderer to set its light layer. Instead, I should be able to change the parent objects light layer and have it affect each child mesh's renderer. The normal layer setting already works this way. How is a level designer supposed to manage large scenes with this inconvenience?

Will this be implemented in the future? Is there something I'm missing?
