I don't know for iOS but on Android you just have to check 'use desktop site' once and that's it...

And if it's an auto-redirect then just use the non-"m." version.

From my understanding, you can't do this with Safari on iOS, but if you use a 3rd party browser like Opera or iCab you can.

It is all nice except for my bugbear with current web design fashion, which is content that is bigger than required, and too much whitespace, requiring endless scrolling. The first screenshot in this thread shows this to be even worse than it is currently on the Unity forums.

There are so many forum headings, and so much white space that the top third or half the screen (depending on which screen is in use) is taken up with nothing of regular value. That means scrolling down every time to what I want from the page.

Yeah I agree moonjump, our web team are going to address this at some point, so hopefully the forums should follow, but for now, we have to deal.

Oh no way! We're using XenForo too, over at DaikonForge forums :)
It's some pretty damn good forum software, I'll say that much.

If you guys are going to implement XenForo, how about this Facepunch-style post ratings plugin

    http://xenforo.com/community/resources/post-ratings-taking-likes-to-the-next-level.410/

    I'm only half-joking here.

We've got this on the DaikonForge forums and it's proven to be quite nice - out of the box you get:
Like, Dislike, Agree, Disagree, Funny, Winner, Informative, Friendly, Useful, Optimistic, Artistic, and of course a good variety of negative ones (Old, Bad Spelling, and Dumb - which could be removed I suppose, we just left them on ours). You can also add custom ones.

I think a useful custom one for us is being able to mark our thread as "SOLVED", as in, if it was a post about a problem we're looking help with and it was finally fixed.

Yes, definitely. We're trying to get one such plugin on our forums to do just that - it's a plugin by Waindigo I believe and fairly high-rated but we just can't get it to work T-T (it's supposed to put a "Mark as Solved" link in the Thread Tools dropdown but doesn't appear to be doing so...)

Just setting expectations, we're at least a week away from this rolling out. Aurore is away at the moment. Once she's back we'll get back on this.

I'll wait before registering that... the topic has to get "Duke Nukem" status before getting it's own domain :)

Any updates on the latest forum, would love for the sections to be made neater also.
Maybe title: Mobile Devices -> iOS/Android/Blackberry/Win all under there etc
And Unity help is big section maybe do some subsections for this.

Looks awesome. The only thing on my wishlist is a forum for art and graphics. It's a bit meagre with just one thread in 'work in progress'. 'External tools' seems a bit too broad as it can just as well include non-art programs.

I think sticky threads are getting out of hand. At this point, I need to scroll down just to see threads that haven't been at the top of the forums for the last year.

Yeah the sticky threads take too much space now and should at least have other background color since the pin is not enough when they are not grouped.

Read/unread thread distinction is not too good, only a blue ball. I liked it when unread was bold.

Also its 2014, where is the user option to enable 24h time display :)

    -chuckles at hippo's signature-

Yea agreed, lots of stickies! I think some of them could be reduced, or the background made a bit darker.

    Fine! Fine!

I've changed it. I had an innovative signature! Still sort of do. I need to be special.

    +1

I liked that the stickies were in their own section also, there was no effort in trying to find the first actual new post.

Would also be nice to not have to hover over the date of a post to get the timestamp.

Lastly, can we get a dark theme? White background is killing my eyes.

I wish there was an indicator of if there is new threads or not like the previous forum. As well as all the above.

    Also UT....dark theme please...can't stand this white color....seriously :(
