"The Messenger" Animated Short + Making Of Character Pipeline

    Hi y'all!

    We created an animated short for a contest in Unity, for which we developed a lot of custom tech you might be interested in! The tech and assets were primarily developed for our upcoming historical action RPG Kinstrife.



    We had very limited amount of time to create the short, and much of the time went into creating the tech behind it. We spent about 4 weeks on the tech, and less than a week on production of the short itself. We ended up winning 3rd place in the contest, which we're very happy with considering it's our first production like this!

    The WIP write-up contains information about our character pipeline, shaders, procedural facial animation and runtime character posture adjustment! Hopefully it will help some of you looking to also punch above your weight using a flexible art pipeline in Unity.
