Thanks all for the feedback, maybe it's a problem with the new web site design?
    Cygnus, you're from brussels?

A new terrain system in unity? maybe for unity 5 ? :D

Here's a new screenshot, it's a panoramic view above the hospital. I have to place rocks on the left mountain and add trees in the empty area (middle screen).
    (image size: 3072x699)
edit: image now on my server, unity upload don't work.

Are you using color correction post processing of any kind? Your images seem kind of washed out and low in contrast. This could be artistic preference but IMO I would "crush the blacks" a little, push the contrast and make some darker areas on the screen. Your terrain/art looks incredible, but I think some different color correction would really push them over the edge.

You right, I'm not completely satisfied with the global colors. I have to try other settings.

Any chance you'd be willing to share the world machine file? I'm not finding many Advanced samples for WM and your graph looks interesting.

the best is to learn how to do. by following this guy : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0o3bqoM0Qg you will improve your skill in wm. With a good knowledge of the tool, you can create what you want.

I already went through his full series and worked on 50ish nodes terrains. But my graphs are looking very diferent from yours in organisation so it got me curious.

I'm mainly work by using the trial and error system. Worldmachine is powerfull and if you use masks, you can sculpt parts of the terrain by using masks and work area after area.

The daily screenshot, water setup and lake border painting.

Aye i know all that. I was still interested in your file as it feels like it's very differently organized from mine. (My large world is split in steps. Masking / generating/ transforming / texturinf / ouput plus a few intermediary steps)

Overall the lightening and composition looks really nice.
The only thing that bothers me, are the rocks. They look kinda flat. Like these have only a rocky texture applied.

Getting to the point where it's becoming harder and harder to distinguish between a photo and your scene. Very impressive.

Sorry, no volcano, Trigens or special mushrooms in this map :)
But after this project, my next map will be more...unusual.

    Thanks all for your support.

I hope we will, i'd love to walk around in an environment like this! But for as far as i know this project hasn't been made for gaming purposes meaning that if he would ever have a webplayer available it will lagg a lot and the FPS will be epicly low. I might be wrong though...

Actually I'm pretty sure it would run fine. When doing the rocks he distinctly spoke about being aware of the cost of rocks. And most of the art is in his attention to detail. He is using fairly standard shaders and is actually quite sparse with trees and details, putting each of them to optimal use. If he is using post effects they're toned down and very subtle.

But damn... the result is nothing short of art. :)

Can you go into a bit more detail about how you're placing rocks? It looks fabulous, maybe a time-lapse?

Oh, yes, I've love to try this on my Mac! I'd love to explore this beautiful scene on my own. Maybe add some ambient noise and music as well to make it be even better?

Yes, it is amazing to see how far standard shaders can take you.

    I'm glad you like it!
Actually the fps on my computer is between 70 and 100 with little slow down when the lake enter in the field of view (not a constant slow down, but a little freeze of one or 2 frames and after everything is fine)

About a web player, because this project is to be include in a game, I do not think I will. This would eliminate the pleasure of discovery during the game :)
But I will upload more movies on youtube (and maybe a time lapse this ween end)

It's not standard shader, but ATS v2 coming from asset store (free) :D

    O.

The terrain is not painted yet in this place :). Maybe I'll add objects instead of sculpting the ground.

I'm guessing his not doing anything with the rocks either, in terms of combining. He could use the stock mesh combiner on groups of rocks using similar materials, or even use something like mesh baker from the asset store to combine groups of different rocks and generate atlases in the editor. Could then use bibbinator's cruncher to generate LOD levels of the combined groups :)
